One interesting non-historic thing to watch for as these episodes progress, and also in other series, is how strong Peter/Fonz is. A real gentle giant, that one.

Amazing how certain skills and techniques tend to be almost universal from culture to culture. The daub and wattle of 16th century Britain is also part of many African methods of cinstruction. The way the pig is processed happens today in country homes in China. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

My dad built 3 stone walls like above. Around the front garden. No experience but described it as the gentleman above did when constructing it.

What is it with the English calling everything pudding? It's so strange to me as a Belgian because pudding here is a dessert; custard as the English call it. Why can't a sausage just be called a sausage?

Save your hands; buy pre-twisted spars. Plenty out there if you do some research. Leave the twisting to the luddites, scrooges and tight-wads.

Meat is the best way to consume both protein and fat, therefore calories. Is it pleasant to do it? Surely not, nobody takes pleasure in that. Was it necessary, and still is? Yes. The key is to give the best life possible to the animal, respect it, treat it right, and thank it for the meat it's gonna give to us.

I am a farmer, spinner, weaver, and fiber artist. I am like Montaz. I do not seek perfection. I think the "flaws" in my works identify them as human craft. I don't really care if someone buys my stuff.i create for the sake of creating.

Ruth darling, i shall have to disagree with you . Having been an herbalist now for 30years , herbal remedies are not mostly placebos. Herbs and plants are the foundation for the modern pharmacy, and herbs especially are very powerful and can be dangerous without knowing how to use them.

We kill and eat our own meat. And we grow our own veg. We dont eat toxic commercial foods....just poison. Our animals are healthy and happy, but they are raised for food. Its just accepted. I process the wool as well. Nothing warmer than a wool jacket and hat. And the leg warmers ....so warm.

I understand that it's a copyrighted name, so I really hope Margot spoke to Montaz off camera about the free-weaving style of Saori. Weaving is about precision, but the Japanese Saori technique let's you "drop a stitch" and praises you for the humanness of the mistake.

I watched this so many times! Including The Victorian and Edwardian Farm. Been trying to get the DVD box set that also includes the Living like A Tudor, I think it was called, but I still haven't managed to find it. And You Tube sadly doesn't show the full season of the Tudor one.

Oh! I thought I'd imagined this! No-one else ever seemed to have watched it. Before they all became 'personalities'. Reminded me of the one where a group of families went to live in the iron age when I was little. And the powers that be never kept the recordings! 🤦

The really irritating thing about Mumtaz isn't that she isn't a perfectionist. All crafters learn the adage that "perfect is the enemy of done" I GET not being broken by a mistake, but I think she takes it too far. It's gone from "I won't let a mistake break things" to "mistakes don't matter".....but they CAN, and until you're well enough grounded in the craft, you don't KNOW if it's important. She fails to respect the process. She rails against "perfection" yet is happy to try to sell sub par product? That's a "hobbyist" not a craftsperson. It's very arrogant, however she chooses to dress it up.
