Insane how they are ready to tackle history. 😅 12 months and many complain of an hour without electricity and water.

what's crazy is a 12 year old from back in those times would be their foreman, we basically know nothing now, well aside from the amish who are still doing things the old way

My uncle used to be a thatcher when he was 19, it's a really hard job and quite dangerous, he ended up quitting because he fell through a roof (this would of been the mid 1950s) I also grew up around farming and my grandfather still used wattle and daub instead of plaster for some of his farm buildings since its cheaper than plaster.

I love these shows, but the camera work is a bit weird especially the junky movements like using a tracking camera or something.

It’s annoying that the video is deliberately wonky, there are better ways to prevent the video from being taken down !

Супер , спасибо за видео. Интересно , в одном месте кору укладывали на доски и потом дёрн. В другом месте - доски потом кора, потом опять доски. Интересно а можно уложить просто дерн на шифер для красоты и теплоизоляции ?

"You can't just get a book and teach yourself weaving". Yes, you can. Handcrafts have come a long way towards being accepted again in the past 10 years. Go get the book, or even better, check online and see if there's a Spinners' and Weavers' Guild in your area. Go there, get connected, learn what you want and enjoy.

Good thing Peter dropped Fonz. Fonz was so serious and almost sad. He barely talked. Peter is more cheerful and more youthful feeling

wasn't nutmeg a luxury only afforded by the upper class in 17th century england? it was pretty expensive still at this point iirc, nutmeg being worth more than its weight in gold . 2 lb of the stuff would be equivalent to around 50 days wages, costing 2 pounds 10 shillings. the average agricultural worker earning the around 8-10 pence per day, just under a shilling which is 12 pence and 20 shillings being a pound. then again, as im writing this im thinking they could buy small amounts of the stuff but it still would've been pretty expensive just to use with cooking when they grew many of their owns herbs to cook with. maybe that cooking book was written by a more well off person and not the average farm labourer

Good series, but after about 3 episodes, I was a little tired of the same song being played over and over. Twelve episodes in and I seriously hate it. They REALLY need to mix the music up a little bit from episode to episode.

Rosemary boiled in Virginia olive oil is good for hastening the healing of torn or pulled muscles. Use an old brown glass or anodised saucepan, as components of any other type of saucepan may infuse into the preparation changing to character, do not use that pan for anything but herbal preparation ever again as the herbs are so strong that they infuse into the substance of the pot and spoil the taste of anything you cook in that pot and just might combine with the cooking and become poisonous. Virgin olive oil is best use but any oil will do at a pinch, fresh rosemsrry is the strongest but dry can be used. Place as much Rosemary in the pot as can be submerged in oil and boil until rosemary is black, cool and decant through muslin into a glass bottle. Rub into injured muscle to hasten healing

There was something wrong in this series. The ragged clothes! Women would mend the rips in the garments right away every night. If the garment was left ripped, it usually got worse and the women were then forced to make new ones. Fabric was expensive to make so mending was a daily chore.

Peter is a good looking young man. I am glad he was chosen to do all those BBC series. Something attractive to see and enjoy while learning how to do things by hand using common sense and basic tools. Most often history series have very serious people that are also a bit physically drab!
