Hey John, it's a nice tutorial and easy to follow. Needless to say I did encounter a few issues. After flashing, the ESP32C3 went straight back into "waiting for download". It was only after I saw you change the memory size from 2M to 4M in the "Serial flasher config" menu that I saw the option "After flashing (rest after flashing)", I noticed yours was also set to this, but I changed mine to "After flashing (stay in bootloader)" And it worked. I noticed that all of my ESP32C3 devices seem to do this, even when using the espressif ESP-launchpad web page. Maybe I have some defective ESP32C3 devices? Strange as they work normally aside from this. When it comes to Rainmaker, do you think that the ESP-IDF is better to use, or do you think that the Arduino-IDE is better ? It certainly seems to be easier with the Arduino-IDE, but the ESP-IDF seems to output a lot more helpful log messages to the console at run time.

Hello I have a request for you please help me if you can I live in a forest and have my own electricity from solar panels and from a small turbine on the stream I should check the voltage from the turbine on an esp32 pin and if the voltage starts to rise, I should include a strong waiting resistor on a pwm pin to slow down the turbine if the batteries are charging, all this can be seen on the esp rainmaker my level of knowledge is only copy paste unfortunately I thank you in advance for your time and effort
@Magic-Smoke
@Magic-Smoke Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure why you would want to waste the energy of the water. Would it not be better to use the excess energy, after the battery is charged, to make hot water or perhaps some other purpose? If you want to stop charging from the turbine, why not disconnect it (via a relay) and let the turbine run freely? If you really want to automatically shut down the turbine output, I have seen this done by shorting the output with a suitable size switch or relay but you need to check that your generator will support this.
@djokinac
@djokinac Жыл бұрын
@@Magic-Smoke I barely get 100W from the turbine it is a small stream but the problem is when the relay turns off the charging of the turbine, it gets a high rpm and then later when it turns on the relay to charge it suddenly cuts off and freezes so that the chain from the turbine to the generator itself lasts a short time that's why I liked the pwm system to slow down gradually I don't know if google translator translates this well I am from Serbia best regards and thank you for your quick reply
@Magic-Smoke
@Magic-Smoke Жыл бұрын
@@djokinac I understand. I’m assuming you are using 12v? Have you established what value of resistance will slow the turbine to the speed you need? If so, you could draw up a circuit that would switch the resistor in using a mosfet. However, you will need to protect the circuit with a diode (back emf) and the resistor will need to be capable of dissipating the heat generated. Same for the mosfet. Driving the control circuit with an esp32 is the easy bit - just use the lighting example and study it. Your changes will mostly be deleting the bits you don’t need.
@djokinac
@djokinac Жыл бұрын
@@Magic-Smoke yes my system is 12v it has 300w of solar panels and a turbine that gives a maximum of 100w and for the load I would put a resistance wire from one heater Unfortunately, I don't know much about Arduino programs, but I understand a little bit about electricity I am 64 years old and my wife and I have been living here in a small sum for 11 years here is the channel where you can see how and where we live www.youtube.com/@djokinac/videos If you would have time to modify the program, I would be grateful in any case, many thanks for the answers Djole and Patrizia
