I can't add aerial bands in programming with chirp

Hello, have you tried the fm band on this radio, I wonder if it is receiving or sending, I would be glad if you inform me, regards

Great review! Thanks. I've just bought two. They must be in high demand because on Temu and Coupang where I bought them, purchase is limited to one unit hence why I bought from different sources. On Temu I paid 46,000 KRW = £25 and Coupang 58,000 KRW = £32 so £57 for two radios which is excellent value. Thanks for the review. HL5ZEE / NP2PU.

Does it have wide and narrow settings? I was just wondering if you could switch it to wide and then switch to airband, would that improve the AM aircraft signals? Just an idea, as if wide and narrow are set in software then it may just effect AM providing it remembers the wide setting. Just an idea
@Transmission17 күн бұрын
Hi, yes it does have wide and narrow settings. Sadly it's already set in the Wide mode but doesn't appear to affect Airband reception in any way even though the setting can be toggled. I've found this a common problem with many of the Chinese radios. If you remember the Quansheng UV-K5 was also very poor out of the box until flashed with alternative firmware which means it can be done. I can think of a few Chinese radios that receive airband well - the new Radtel RT-900 seems to be good and my now very old Radtel RT-490 - might be ancient but still blows away a lot of the newer models on AM.

Let’s be clear about FCC certification regarding spurious emissions. The FCC does not test radios; rather, they rely on vendors to supply testing data showing that the radio meets FCC criteria. That being said, there are many, many, many radios with FCC certification that do not meet spurious emissions criteria or adequate dB separation between the fundamental and harmonics. It’s also not unusual for some radios from a manufacturer to be very clean and then other radios from the same product line to fail. The onus is on the buyer to ensure their radios do not cause interference. This also applies to any other device that transmits, such as wifi routers, so it’s not limited to 2-way radios.
@Transmission18 күн бұрын
Thank you for that clarification. It's similar to the CE mark in Europe and now the UK CA marks here in the United Kingdom. The product also had both of these markers on the side of the box but unless you conduct your own tests you'll never know if the manufactuer is telling the truth. I suspect as you pointed out this could be the case for a lot of products in additional to radios like these.

Another excellent review complete with token spectral purity troll in comments. 🤣. Nice radio. First time I've seen consistent tx output across bands on that type of radio -- nice. Yes we do have 1.25 band here in the US. The sad thing is not many people use it. Have a wonderful evening. 👍
@Transmission19 күн бұрын
Thanks and you're right... good output power across the range and normally these type of radios don't perform that great on 220MHz+ A shame we don't have access to those frequencies in Europe but that's because they are occupied by DAB - Digital Radio broadcasting. We do however have access to 4m which is the 70 MHz so that's an interesting range to experiment with to. 73 Simon

Having an FCC ID means two things: Diddly and Squat. This is a dirty radio. I have one.
@F16_viper_pilot9 күн бұрын
Well, there you go. I just posted a comment in the main section before reading your comment, and I fully concur that FCC certification is meaningless.

Hello, I can't transmit on the PMR 446 channels on the Baofeng U25. Do you have a solution? Thank you.
@Transmission17 күн бұрын
Where did you buy yours from? I've bought 3 of them and non had transmit restrictions. Have you tried the T6UV CPS Software? You should be able to program the frequencies into this and send straight to the radio.

I wouldn't discount the strength of that belt clip until you test it. Since that radio was given to you for testing, why not do it! Mount that clip, then strap that radio on your belt, and then yank the crap out of it until it breaks. You might be surprised! If it's truly mil-spec, that clip SHOULD have been ruggedized as well. Most of the time, those plastic belt clips are crazy strong; I've had decades of experience with them on Motorola radios and seldom had a failure.

They really need to sort out AM reception, it can't be that hard. I'm not buying Baofengs again until they can do this.
@Transmission17 күн бұрын
I agree. It's possible to get good AM audio out of these radios - look at the Quansheng UV-K5 for instance with the custom firmware the problems are fixed so with a little effort they could patch this poor demodulation up!

Inside the antenna there a very thin flexible other antenna like the ABBREE AR-771. I watched a video from a guy that took it apart.
@LithonTheBlackАй бұрын
You can repair that cable and make it more stable by using 'sugru'. It's like a moldable rubber that goes fairly hard but remains flexible when it has set. It's great for armouring weak cable connectors. ;) Cheers.

If you use the Baofeng software it allows you to access the banks or zones. This makes it very useful. It then copy’s to chirp using the read from radio so you can transfer the code plug easily.

Nice review Simon, got mine last week fairly pleased with the radio my initial observation are it’s heavy to hold while using however using a Bluetooth mic has sorted that out. So wish the PTT was a little more weighted as when picking up the set if turned on it triggers the transmit if caught accidentally. I agree the belt clip is one big let down and potentially if using you could end up dropping the radio. My thoughts are that I might purchase the same belt clip used on my RFinder B1+ as with a slight mod would fit and is a lot stronger. It so reminds me of the Motorola radio I carried around for 12 years when working for WYPF. Best 73s. Kaz. G4OWW. …..

Nice radio and excellent review. Looks like you could use it to clobber a burglar if you had to -- what a beast. You were wondering about 350mhz; a lot of Chinese radios can enable transmit for 350. India's version of FRS/PMR uses 350mhz. 👍

Sirio uses a shunt coil for improved matching and is dc shorted ,the tank whip isnt and Impedance is around 30-35ohms resonant on car roof. sirio shunt coil helps match it better into 50ohmz by raising the Z impedance. Differences ? sirio about 1/2 a S point (-3db) roughly difference-In practise barley noticable. Tank whip is 0dB Sirio has a higher Q point over a narrower bandwidth. Tank whip has a lower Q ,But wider bandwidth over sirio. Tank whip works best with a BArrel big spring on it and prevents damage if hitting tress. Yes you will hardly notice a difference in performance,only bandwidth range of tank whip. Only run a tank whip mobile with tri-mag mount of ball joint mounted (drill type) due to weight loading and safety. If want wideband 3-4mhz go 9ft on roof and very very high power RF. If want shorter but very good performance go Sirio 4000 (less bandwidth,higher Q factor) Great video 👍 Rob.P 73's

Yes that is actually true with CB hanhelds in general... they are lucky to manage a few miles in a good location. PMR-446 is a much better choice for local comms although the Thunderpole TX was better than I thought it might be!
