Thanks! Hopefully you'll find the results similar to mine. In reality I think the stubby is way too small for serious 2m use - might be good at a Hamfest for short range comms but it's fine on 70cm and 446. I did enjoy the 771 - that's a nice antenna for a super cheap price right now and the speaker mic is the clearest one I've tested. Let me know how you get on! 73 Simon

@@Transmission1 Probably ideal for Private local comms on 70cm as when used in conjunction with the little H3 it will be super compact.

I have the abbree Bluetooth mic and it gives you great clarity, and I use 1 of them little dipoles for 25 quid and I can get out about 40 miles so far

I compared the Tidradio stubby vs. what is probably a fake Diamond, and the fake Diamond worked better. Maybe it's not fake; I don't know.

@@N2EWSRadio Yes I was a bit disappointed when I saw the SWR on the stubby but it was expected. For 70cm and PMR it would be passable. Just!

Just nothing more than cheap Genetic Chinese antennas, Sold under various brand names I've got my short UHF aerial of Aliexpress for 1.15 exactly the same as that one you have, And I think the longer one was about £3, £5 in total with postage, And they were complete crap

The TD-771 was well matched and gave a decent improvement over the stock antennas. The stubby was terrible which is no surprise at 2m. So if you wouldn’t recommend these type of antennas like these ones which would you purchase? I’ve bought the genuine Diamond SR-77J but it’s not really any better than the 771. Maybe in build quality but signal wise it’s no more gain.
