Maybe gear options or a belt drive? Also maybe metal canoe or kayak?

Amazing journey, fantastic effort......not sure why you chose to push the limits of the all terrain terrestrial capability so far (risky) and was also puzzled why you decided to pull rather than turn the vessel/vehicle around and push (also thought a sling/rope bridal would be helpful with lifting and pulling .... think piano removalist equipment). All the best for your charity and look forward to more of your adventures and videos, cheers. Great soundtrack....was waiting for a bit of amateur Braveheart recorder at some point to emphasise the DIY Scottish battle against the elements, or at least a wee bit of pipes.

Are you planning to add some wings to your canoë?

If you take a couple of carabiners and some 7mm paracord you could rig up a 2:1 or 3:1 winch - would be helpful getting up those steep banks, would not weigh much to carry. Couple that with a prussic and you have a means of pulling the rope, whilst also being able to slip your puller back down for another pull. You might also benefit from some method of preventing your wheels from turning backwards - so you don't lose all your gains. Of course, sometimes you have to push backwards - but it would be nice to be able to lock it off when needed.

One tip to reliev a LOT of strain from the whole drivetrain is, to put a bigger sprocket onto the wheels. This would reduce the reduction you need in the first part of it making it spin faster, but with less torque thus not breaking all of your parts

Bilge pumps are cheap at Decathlon and would not add greatly to your weight.

Smooth tyres ! Perhaps, if you do this again, you might go for off-road tyres, given you're going off road.
@ashtontechhelpСағат бұрын
Bad luck with the chain. Honestly, as I watched you putting this together, I did think you might have been better off with a DC motor driving a DC motor. Possibly with a small battery to store any excess power. It's a very complex setup you were going for there.
@ashtontechhelp59 минут бұрын
....would also give a little slip when you don't make enough power, so would be more gentle on your mechanicals. Would smooth things out dramaticaly. Motors would only need to be 100w, as that's the most any human can reasonably make for any duration. Depending on wiring, you could effectively have a differential built in, depending upon whether you went for series or parallel.

That was brilliant, thank you so very much for taking me with you. As an Australian born Scott. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of your trip. My wife and I have been through that area 6-7 years ago and would one day love to return. What a great part of the world. Look forward to your next adventure. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴

Worst part of the nature is bugs. I don't know if you have it already or if there is a part available, but a differential system would help with the rear tyres.

Beautiful boat. I'm looking for 250gsm (8oz) woven polyester cloth for a skin-on-frame build. I'm keen on Polyester because it is impervious to water and can be shrunk drum-tight with a domestic iron... I wonder if you know of a source of such fabric anywhere in the world?

A friend of mine did the same trail on a mountain bike and he was totally nackkerd after the steeps, well done, potty the chain and sprocket failures. The nature is absolutely smashing beautiful

It's as weird as watching an Olympic butterfly race, but more fascinating. Well done on completing the journey. I was sanding my very small wooden sailboat hull today, musing about a pedal-paddle augment (in the way one does when sanding). Our next outing is 'The People Blockade' stopping some of the largest coal ships from leaving port in Newcastle NSW Australia.

Fantastic! would like to know if you can incorporate a mid drive assist motor for longer distance travel with less effort, the system should weight any from 6-10kg including battery so no big deal compare to the canoe and cycling part.
@ben-kilner2 сағат бұрын
Thank you 🙏🙏 it would be easy to incorporate however it would need to be thoroughly waterproofed in case of capsizing 😅

It would’ve been a lot easier and a lot lighter if you had of built some paddles, that would attach to the wheels when you’re in the water.
@jeffreynerdin3522Күн бұрын
This has probably been noted, but you would be much more stable in both water and road mode if you lowered the seat as much as possble. Your high seat is the major factor contributing to the instability, especially in water.
@ben-kilner16 сағат бұрын
100% 👌 lowering restricted by constraints of the scrap bike frames. A fully custom built setup would have the seat slammed as low as possible.

The crystals formed because some of the solvent evaporated and the remaining solvent was completely saturated and could not dissolve anymore of the product. This caused some of the product to fall out of suspension and crystallize. Simply adding more of whatever solvent is in that product should dissolve those crystals back to liquid.

Интересный плавающий лигерад. Похоже переднее колесо создаёт сопротивление в воде. Вместо него можно поставить второй руль направления.
