The world's first amphibious Pedal Paddle recumbent bike boat capable of passing through weeds and shallow water without damaging the propulsion system. On land it converts into 'Road Mode' with a bike and trailer. The build took two days and features a very sturdy SUP by Two Bare Feet.
Amidst one of the harshest droughts and heatwaves the UK has ever seen, I attempted to travel 100 miles from the navigable source of the River Wye at Glasbury to the river mouth at Chepstow and then 50 miles back to the start by road.

I really enjoyed this episode. I would love to have done something along those lines. But a lass I’m 74 and I can only dream. Or watch your videos. And it’s so nice to hear someone speak correctly. You’re a true gentleman. I have subscribed and I am going through your collection for more of your work. Cheers and thank you from Down Under 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

You've made some excellent improvements to the design. The dog leg design for the paddle mechanism is ingenious. Now you need a purpose built metal frame with bearings, so it can maintain the correct orientation under hard use.

Wonderful video of your adventure, Ben. I think I recognised a couple of spots, having driven minibus with canoe trailer for D of E paddles on the Wye. I have previously built a pedal powered boat and bike trailer (which could theoretically fit behind the boat to carry the bike) but I wouldn't have been brave enough to attempt such an epic voyage!

I really loved watching your pedal adventure. I pedalled down the river Lima in Portugal for two days myself and the tide/mud section of your video brought back memories of that trip. How did you manage to clean your feet before you climbed in your hammock?
@ben-kilner

Thank you! Good to have a fellow water explorer here 🤩🤩 that mud was beyond invasive 👀… I used a damp t-shirt and a wet wipe or two.

Have you thought about outriggers for added stability ?
@ben-kilner
@ben-kilner 6 ай бұрын
Yes… however I didn’t include them partly to test the basic stability and partly because they would potentially get caught on plants and trees in narrow and fast sections. I would probably opt for a wider board before adding outriggers next time around unless very rough conditions 👍
