Hi, I don't speak perfect English, but I wanted to try to ask you a question, I read the documentation on your site, I wanted to understand something once I purchased ''Super Midi Pack'' How can I get ''Web App MIDI Daw'' ? to manage from the Computer the Super Midi Pack.. * I read your documentation on the site, but I didn't find a note that clarified this..

It depends on the DAW software you use. As long as you can configure it to send MIDI to external devices then you can use it.

Impressive! The echo block is structured in a fascinating way and certainly pretty unique to the SNES. (we put it in the "too hard" basket for our SNES tracker tool) Great to see it being opened up and a bunch of the options explored :-)

is it possible with the SNES's FIR network to create resonant highpass/lowpass filters? my assumption based on not being able to precisely control the poles would be no but i'm not really familar with the math
@supermidipak
@supermidipak 2 ай бұрын
You can but the shapes of filters that you can produce are limited. I'm working on a pole-based filter generator and my next video is going to be about that!

Is it possible to use this to find cool-sounding FIR parameters for use in homebrew projects or songs written for sound drivers like AddMusicK, or does it only work on a physical Super MIDI Pak?
@supermidipak
@supermidipak 2 ай бұрын
Out of the box it works with Super MIDI Pak but you can use these settings in any SNES homebrew project or with other tools. You can do it by pen and paper or you can automate it by presenting a MIDI device to the web app and capturing the FIR register output.

That's awesome. And thanks for the z-transform brush up. Very well explained. Personally I would change the frequency scale in the filter designer to logarithmic, so it makes more sense in an audio context.
@supermidipak
@supermidipak 3 ай бұрын
Yeah I've been thinking of adding some toggles to change the units of the graph. Different scales are better under different circumstances. For instance, I originally implemented group delay for the phase response display but group delay isn't always the most relevant way to understand the response. Thank you for the kind words!
@corri303
@corri303 3 ай бұрын
@@supermidipak Oh right , speaking of delay, observing comb filter effects caused by delay does look better on a linear scale. So a toggle would be the perfect choice.

How do you get the midi-pak to display properly like that? Mine goes to a black screen. Also would love a more detailed overview of what you're doing on seq24. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get what I'm playing on my controller to write to the sequence. Or how to swap my active channel, but you did so with a quick button press after live-writing the 2nd sequence.
@residentemil_

A screen briefly appears and goes away, but it says to press R and start to bring up the menu, from there you can go down and turn off the sleep mode (unfortunately afaik this needs to be done every time, unless someone else knows a way to persist this setting). Also you can use whatever DAW makes you most comfortable

Hi I got and love my Super Midi Pak, tested it on my piano and it works but I'm having a hard time getting my F Zero SF2s on there can you guys give a dummy proof tutorial on the tool? It kept telling me it uploaded but it played the same default sound. I had it connected in on the pak and out on the audio interface I have. Does it need to be turned on? I'm pretty new to MIDI stuff so sorry for the noob question

Fun fact: Both the PlayStation and SNES use the same sound chip made by sony. The SNES had a Sound processor called the SPC700 and the DSP unit called the S-DSP. Both manufacturered by Sony. And the PlayStation 1 Had a sound chip called the SPU. Also Manufactured by Sony as well.

Wow that makes me wonder (I'm not smart at all in this field) that's why when you put a PS1 game int he PS2 it doesn't do the full start up as that was live from the actual PS1 console.

Impressive stuff! - What I'd really like to see would be an internal tracker where you could sequence those sounds as well as MIDI-Gear while using the controller. All from the convenience of sitting in front of a Snes. One can dream.

As someone who has the Super NT to utilize this but is currently w/o a keyboard, what one would y'all recommend pairing this w/? I do see the Keystation in the video. I just want to compare my options.
@supermidipak
@supermidipak Жыл бұрын
If you are just starting out I would get something inexpensive and small to start with, there are keystation models that are small and travel size. When you are ready to get more serious, I would get a 61 key MIDI keyboard with velocity sensitive keys.

Hi, I just got a super midi pak and I am trying to figure out how to make a sample loop while I hold down a key so that it sustains. It seems no matter what my setting are it only plays the sample once than steps, so I am not able to get long notes by holding down a key. I must be missing something. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Corridors of Time is probably my favorite SNES song of all time, and the rest of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack is also incredible, like Schala's theme, Frogs theme, and many others. The nostalgic feels I get when hearing the CT soundtrack is definitely one of the reasons I really wanted to get a Super MIDI Pak myself, so I would have access to those sonic possibilities. I felt this way before I even saw this video, and now I am absolutely convinced!
