You can obtain converters from TRS MIDI Type A to traditional MIDI tracks. Physically it is a normal headphone jack but its been repurposed for MIDI. You can use any external BRR samples that you may have. The web application can also extract BRR samples from any SPC files you may have. You cannot save a song on it but you can save all of your samples and settings and restore them later. It's expected that you would save your songs in a MIDI sequencer application or device.

My goal is to write for MIDI on my DAW, then run that to a SNES, and hear my music played with SNES "instruments".

Bear with me... i'm playing the devil's advocate here: So, since the SNES uses samples, what is the benefit of this cart? It has pre-installed samples or you can upload samples to the cart which you can play on your SNES as a limited sampler? What is this “synthesizer”, "bypass midi (???)", "lo-fi, fluid sound" and “unrestricted access to the soundchip” you’re talking about? Tell me why just not to load up some SNES soundfonts in my DAW other than the gimmick of having a SNES playing some low quality samples? I get the appeal from a NES (like the FAMIMIMIMIDI and Midines cart), Genesis or C64 for instance when utilising the native soundchips, but the SNES is basically just a neutered sampler. Where is a menu that shows which samples are loaded on what midi channel (on the SNES screen, not the browser)? Can you easily upload ROMS/SPCS (to the webtool/directly to the cart) and extract the samples/songs from there? How does it handle the samples and how do you set up the sample loop points for instance? How much sample memory does the cart hold? You are playing with split keyzones, show us how to set that up for instance? Show me a DAW with the midi outs connected to the Super MIDI Pak playing all 8-16 midi channels simultaneously. Is there really a "unrestricted access to the soundchip" possible? You are talking about "turning it into a proper polyphonic synth". How many voices? Can you convert a midi that the Super MIDI Pak plays to a SPC with the samples used? Or any thoughts of intergrading a sequencer? Don't get me wrong, i really want to buy this, but there is just too much unclear to me at the moment. Especially when you show off a shabby 3D printed cart with only showcasing a splash screen, a very confusing webtool and not going indepth what it exactly does while playing some memorable SNES melodies and asking people to pre-order this...

This device was primarily designed for live performances where it's generally risky to delegate your sound generation to a DAW running on a PC or laptop, which can suffer from latency issues as well as occasional choppiness/skipping. I also find that it's excessively difficult and unnecessarily time consuming to reproduce the sound of the SNES with standard samplers, with Super MIDI Pak it just sounds right the first time. The video is intended to be a short introduction to the product. It is a goal of the video to get people interested in the details so I'm glad you are now interested! Many of the details you are seeking are answered on the website. You may assume that anything that isn't mentioned in the video or on the website is not provided.
