Strictly speaking they are Garratts and they work on the Welsh Highland Railway. And yes they are powerful.

Major props to the lookout on the ballast wagon during the initial uphill push - no nice warm cab for them until afterwards! Also, just wondering, was the camera operator able to fly the drone back into the cab to retrieve it after the shot at Penrhyn crossing? Apropos WHHR, other videos I've seen suggest they seem to run at least some of their locos with air brakes rather than vacuum - that reminds me that I haven't seen you show us anywhere how your steam locos actually create that vacuum - steam-powered air pumps have that characteristic wonky grandfather clock sound, vacuum seems to be more discrete, can you perhaps show us the inner workings on one of your Boston Lodge or Dinas visits, please? Thanks in advance \m/

Russell is facing Blaenau. But normally she is facing Caernarfon. Has she been recently taken off the track and turned or is there some facility for turning locos on the WHHR? I wasn't aware of any track layout anywhere on WHHR or F&WHR that allowed this. Never mind a turntable (other than the small waggon one at BL).

Cadeby actually pronounced Cade-bee. Lets note that Teddy Boston was a friend of Rev. Awdry and was the prototype for the Fat Controller. Though he did appear as himself [as the Fat Clergyman] in at least one of the Skarloey books. Awdry appearing as himself as the Thin Clergyman. Anyhow, great to see Pixie coming back to life.

To the film making crew; bravo. You know how to, do so, and do it it very well. I wish I had your talent when I joined the business in the 60's. Be proud of your work because it's praiseworthy. Bless you all and yours. With great respect, Gerald.

With the rusty parts. If any small rusty parts that are removable like vestibule clip, bolts or screws and they are in a condition that can be re-used let them soak in some Sulfuric Acid until all the rust has gone, and then you can determine if you need to replace or reuse said parts.

Where the new Premier Inn stands was the site of the Britannia Foundry and it gave its name to the bridge. Sadly it was demolished in the 1970s.

What is the reason for Russell’s visit to Boston Lodge? 🤔
@FfWHR-MovingPictures

@MrGrahamxyz
@MrGrahamxyz Жыл бұрын
@@FfWHR-MovingPictures Ok, I understand that, but what is the long term reason for Russell’s visit to the FR? I know that it can run up the FR as far as Rhiw Goch, but is too big to proceed any further. It can of course run the full length of the WHR, which it has recently done. Also why the need for a mechanical examination; isn’t that usually done at the WHHR workshop?
@FfWHR-MovingPictures
@FfWHR-MovingPictures Жыл бұрын
Russell will be a part of the WHR100 gala this year and needs to have a few adjustments to make sure all goes well, while it was at Boston Lodge it was simple for WHHR and F&WHR fitters to examine and make a plan.

Have you or any of the other Heritage lines investigated a viable de- misting system for your passenger stock ? ( other, of course than the sleeve of the jacket method ) or maybe just for the premium coaches. Disney, manage it on there submarine ride, so it can be done. Anyhoo thanks for the video , keep up the good work.

As someone who can date their interest in the Ffestiniog Railway to family holidays in the mid 1960s and my decision to be an architect immediately prior to visiting Portmeirion where we've holidayed every year it has been possible (Covid) since getting married I cannot get rid of my interest in the railway as it has grown! If there is anything minor I can do to assist architecturally I would delighted to help if I am able to.
