I think the main difference is maybe Koreans use it in speech more. I dont use that sound when Im speaking, but I might for: spicy food, when its cold, when something embarrassing happens. My first boss and coworkers were Korean (a cafe) and I heard this sound all the time when they spoke Korean. My current employer is also Korean but much younger than the first employer but I feel like I dont hear the sound as much with her. I also notice it with K dramas.

Chinese people who uses the lee surname was under the British colonial rule in Hong Kong while the people who uses Li was never under British domination..

As a norwegian the letter sometimes sounds like a norwegian rolling r, and somethimes as a thick l. You are the first I found to both acknowledge the differece in pronunciation and explain it so well. Thank you!

I think this video is excellent in terms of its content! But I'm trying to find out how to actually say becuase.. because usually I dont know what I'm gonna say until I get to it, like "this is not what is expect, because ... and now I would have to think how to even put it.." Whereas in korean do you have to think it all through from "the end" and say the entire thing beutifully structured, reason first and then then consequence? In Korean you can't tell the effect and then think how to explain the cause? I struggle to believe that.

hm, that made me think really hard:) in Russian wishful thinking mostly conveyed with a particle "бы" which is responsible for telling that the situation in question is imaginary. but the verb "wish" itself and the verb you wish for can be in different tenses and it doesn't change anything drastically. хотел бы я быть выше! - literally "[I] wished I to be taller!" - past tense for "wish", infinitive for the wished verb вот бы я был выше! - “if only I were taller!” - "wish" omitted altogether, past tense for the wished verb эх, быть бы выше! - "waah, to be taller!" - "wish" omitted, infinitive for the wished verb the second one sounds like stronger wish and the third one sounds almost desperate, but it has nothing to do with the verbs' tenses, but with those additional interjections I put in front of them. so I guess Slavic languages don't work this way^^;

One thing to note, in English we also say j and ch sounds without lip protrusion, it really depends on what vowel comes after it. For example the word cheap, there is no lip protrusion with this word. The words with j/ch that have protruding lips are ones that are followed by vowels that need lip rounding like o and u or perhaps just back vowels, not sure on specifics. Which makes me wonder if these Korean affricates are always followed by fronted vowels or if they are sometimes pronounced with lip protrusion if they are followed by back vowels like o and u sounds.

Can i ask because sometimes 아서 어서 means (AND) but how can i configure if it's and or because?

Would you be willing to post a youtube video titled, "How to pronounce 양치류"? You seem to be very knowledgeable about the Korean language. I typed that sentence into the KZbin search engine, and there were no videos. I could use a text-to-speech programme, but I trust a video of a person more than I trust text-to-speech programmes. In my experience, text to speech programmes do not work very well. Text-to-speech programs for computers produce bad pronunciations on a regular basis. I think that a youtube video of yourself pronouncing the word would be helpful.
