nice!!!! regarding the use of the paper log in case you loose electronics : how would you know how many nm you did to know when to change heading?
@SailingBritaly5 күн бұрын
If the log still works that can be used to estimate position, otherwise you can dead reckon using various methods. One way is to use a hand-bearing compass and plot back-bearings onto the chart from visible land or landmarks like lighthouses or hilltops in order to triangulate your position. Depth soundings (electronic or manual) can provide another line of where you are on the chart too... Best regards, Chris 👍

A method to get the sail drive lined up to the housing is really long bolts. Then swap them out for the correct bolts as you line it up.

I have 3 separate tanks that all have seperate valves to open to switch tanks how would this set up work
@SailingBritalyАй бұрын
There's no difference as you're adding it adjacent to one of the faucets. Whichever tank is open will feed the filter. 👍

in retrospect, how often did you find yourself moving the panels to follow the sun, vs. leaving them flat?

Rarely, but when that extra power was needed it really did make a big difference. (Both at anchor and on passage)

Hello, thank you for the upload. It's cool to hear the telegraph outside of the tugboat. Was this vessel used in the retrieval at Dunkirk or was it deemed too important as its main duties required it to stay in port?

When ever sailing alway do what in your faver. High winds short sails. Use engine. You get there when you get there this what sailing all about play it safe at all times. And you cannot go wrong. You did well mate thank you for this video we need more videos like this sail safe

Exactly what happened to me 2 days ago... was cleaning around big seacock of the sink, basically bumped it and it broke in half...BELOW valve 😢 was a helluva battle to stop the water and not sink the boat, as I was alone.... got it sorted tho. TIP!! Keep these cone shaped wooden thingies CLOSE to the seacocks... trying to find them almost cost me my boat... Great video..thanks 👍🏼 😂

What about breaking waves over the stern? 🤔
@SailingBritaly2 ай бұрын
The panels were removable completely in literally about 2 minutes - unlike most solar setups which in this situation would generate huge forces if hit by a breaking wave. No system is perfect, but this setup is very versatile.

I use the same technique, but with some differences. I use a small piece of rope around the mast, specially if is windy or someone could make waves around me. This line should be tied to the harness loop, not to the carabiner and you will need to untied when you reach the spreaders. The other difference is, I have a rope loop about 2 foot long from the harness to the carabiner, in this way the carabiner is always close to your eyes and I can avoid snags it with my clothes or something else and accidentally open it. I implement this after found the screw gate loosen
