Thank you for posting this video! I took my dog off of Purina Pro Plan because he was vomiting far too often. The Vet didn't find any issues, so I changed his food. He's been on Wellness for over 6 months, and the vomiting has stopped, and he's gained weight as well. That's enough for me to stay away from Purina. PS... I'm not on social media I googled dog food recalls because of my dogs constant vomiting and saw potential issues with Purina Pro Plan as well as a few other brands. I put him on the food that had little to no recalls. I also feed him food with grain because I can't get good information on why grain free may be causing heart issues. I purposely got off of social media years ago because of its false and deceptive content.

I'm so glad you found VMC and this video! There's never one formula that's best for every single patient. Anecdotally, I find that some PPP formulas end up being too 'rich' for some patients, however that doesn't mean there's anything 'wrong' with Purina. And a different formula (say one that's for sensitive GI tracts) may have worked for your dog. Unfortunately, the diet you're currently feeding is not recommended as it doesn't meet WSAVA guidelines and is causing daDCM (yes, both the grain free and the grain inclusive options). My series on dog/cat nutrition is linked in the video description, if you want additional information. If your dog has been on the current diet for 6mo or more then you need to see a veterinary cardiologist to screen for nutrition related heart issues. You also need to blend over to a properly formulated, research based diet that meets WSAVA guidelines. All the best!

I'm a pet sitter. I had a customer adopt a dog shortly after their senior dog passed away. They already had a dog and a cat. They found out the pup had Giardia, then a week later proceeded to take a two and a half week vacation. Then didn't bother to tell me she was sick until after they had left, leaving me to deal with the problem and only wanting to pay me for a once a day visit. What a nightmare. They did not stress the severity of the situation at all. Some people should not be pet owners.

I have seen that type of grooming and leg twitching in My cat. Recently i noticed the twitching in her back as well. She's turned one not too long ago. She's partial Birman. I've been to the vet several times cuz she coughs after she drinks water. Could this also have something to do with this syndrom?

Thank you for the question! Over KZbin it's tough to say much, but coughing isn't generally associated with this. Coughing generally needs a respiratory and cardiac work up (this usually means x-rays of the neck/chest and am ultrasound of the heart). I hope you are successful working with your veterinarian to sort out what's going on!

NEWS FLASH! GS is NOW FDA approved as of 06/01/2024!!! Have your vet call STOKES PHARMACY out of NJ. Got my first bottle a week ago 1 mo supply $550. worth a try. He will need it 84 days (3 mo supply over $1500.). I'm seeing some improvement but his belly still huge swollen after 6 days of pills. One day at a time. He cannot walk due to weight of belly. Giving him PT as front legs have grown weak from being immobile a month. Pee pads under him and huge thick pillow for comfort of the belly. Cannot get into litterbox can walk a few steps weight of belly drops him. he has also been to vet 3 times in a week to help appetite, nausea (ointment to put inside of ear) and weight to adj meds if needed. It's not cheap but it is HOPE. Work closely with your vet-get a good one-as your cat will need additional care to treat any other symptoms that come up during 84 day course of GS. do NOT go to FB page FIP Warriors they will NOT tell you this med was just approved because someone is getting a KICKBACK for selling black market pills which have not even been tested!! I went round and round i was working with this page when drug got approved and they still LIED to me trying to push thier illegal drugs.

I have been giving my dog coconut oil for many years.She's now 10.The vet says that she is in Very good health. I think you are giving the missed information. Coconut is very good in moderation for your dog. I have given my dog some coconut oil for years and no problem. There's skin is good. Their hair is good. Their poops are good. Their stomach doesn't grow. I disagree, I think you need to do some more research on coconut oil for dogs. And of course, everything in modification. That's what's important. Have a good day
@VetMedCorner
@VetMedCorner 7 күн бұрын
What you've been doing, and the way your report your dog looks, has nothing to do with the coconut oil. If you stopped it your dog would look the exact same and would be at a significantly reduced risk of developing pancreatitis. What you just explained is not accurate, research based information. It's the common mistake of confusing correlation with causation...

I'm so glad you found this video! However, it sounds like your dog has a different diagnosis (ie CKD) so although there's a decent amount of information overlap, there are some differences. I don't yet have a video dedicated to CKD; it is on my list of topics to tackle, I just haven't gotten to it yet! I also can't give any sort of information about a specific animal over KZbin, legally I am limited to sharing general information. This makes sense, of course, because as a veterinarian I need to have the physical exam plus diagnostic test results plus the medical history etc before it's possible to give information that's more specific to an individual animal. I hope that your dog does well, and that their CKD progresses as slowly as possible. You can always consult an internal medicine specialist if you want a second opinion or if your GP veterinarian has done what they can. 💜🐾

My dog developed alopecia and a skin allergic reaction. I removed the collar after 5 weeks and then found out that the EPA was investigating because of the excessive deaths and side effects including skin reactions and seizures. That’s enough evidence for me to say never again! Only natural products and holistic all the way in this toxic world. One out of two dogs will develop cancer is unacceptable and these toxic products have no place in, on or around our dogs and cats.

Dumb question? Should he have been using a breathing tube whenever he did surgery?
@VetMedCorner
@VetMedCorner 9 күн бұрын
That is not at all a dumb question, and yes, absolutely. There are very rare occasions where we might not use a breathing tube (ie something very quick, as in a procedure less than 5min long, and that is not invasive... Think of something like a small skin mass that needs to be removed), but for the vast vast vast majority of procedures a breathing tube is absolutely necessary for patient safety. It maintains their ability to get enough oxygen and it also enables us to precisely manage the amount of anesthesia they receive. Both of those things reduce the risks of the procedures dramatically, which is why using a breathing tube is the standard of care.

I was looking for more discussion from other vets on this condition when I came across your video. The neurologist vet just diagnosed my girl as having feline hyperesthesia based on all the symptoms I told her. MRI was quoted at $4k-$8k! WHO has that kind of money? Vet said I didn’t have to do that since, from her experience, 99% of past cat patients turned out normal. We did do some bloodwork. Right now, we are figuring out what combination of meds will work for her as every cat is different. She acknowledged that this condition is a difficult and challenging to owners and cats because there's still so much unknown.

"Happy Now" was written by Scott, Kevin, and Kirstin, in collaboration with Sean Myer, Ross Golan, Raul Cubina, Mark Williams, Jon Bellion, and Johan Carlsson. Logically it should have come first, but in my mind the companion song to "Happy Now" is "Run to You." "Run to You" depicts a desperate attempt to recover a broken relationship. It's another #PTX original, written by Avi and Kevin, and in my opinion it contains the most beautiful harmonies Pentatonix has ever produced, which is saying a LOT. There's no lead singer, no solos, no percussion, just glorious five part harmony throughout. And in the official video, through the genius of Ed Boyer, who edits Pentatonix's audio tracks, any time the camera is focused on one singer, rather than the entire group, that singer's voice is just SLIGHTLY more distinct. It doesn't damage the balance - you don't even notice it if you aren't watching - but it's real, and it makes it much easier to distinguish individual voices.

I love this song. My husband of 46 years killed himself just over two years ago, and this is one of my go-to mental health/recovery songs. "Is it illegal to dance like I'm about to?" is such a great line - it isn't asking for permission; it acknowledges the ambivalent feelings while stating that I AM moving on, regardless of the answer. That is just so healthy, so right. It's what we need to do when getting over a relationship that has failed, in whatever way.

@@VetMedCorner Thank you. I'm a member of a group that gets together about once a month to sing filk songs ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filk_music ). We never criticize anyone's performance; it's just for fun. These are incredibly caring people. I know who to call for help if I need a ride because I had a minor accident, barely made it to my mechanic's shop, and now need a ride home; or if I need, say, outpatient surgery and the doctor doesn't want me to drive myself home. Perhaps more to the point, I have shoulders to cry on when I need them, and people to listen when I'm trying to figure out why something that's apparently minor FEELS important, even if it means I'm rambling. (If it feels important, your subconscious is trying to tell you something. Unfortunately, my subconscious tends to speak only in symbols, which can be frustrating.) I'm also a member of a computer club that goes out of their way to watch out for me, and have relatives and close friends who are only a phone call or email away. Songs I've put in the "Recovery" directory on my little mp4 player: SuperFruit's cover of "Rise," "Run to You," and "Happy Now." Also, for personal reasons, "Todrick Hall - The Wizard of Ahhhs (ft. PTX can make a break-up song sound like it's the happiest occasion, something you'd WANT to have happen, even though it's usually pretty traumatic. Happy Now, A Little Space...and I think there's one more in that genre that I'm blanking on right now. I'm afraid my analysis of the color/no-color was a lot more simplified than yours was! I was simply thinking that the lack of color at the beginning represented the feeling of emotional "emptiness" that you can feel after a break-up (especially something long-term or highly emotionally charged), and that as you begin to recover from it that the color (emotion) begins to come back into your life, until you're finally fully "in color" and back to "normal" - whatever that might be for you. Another song you might like is also an original - Love Again. It was their follow-up to Daft Punk, and they really took the makeup and costuming from that song to heart. Written by Avi and Kevin, with input from Mitch, it's definitely one that will get you chair-dancing!

I bet the director and videographer would love how analytical you are reacting to the color variations and the visuals of this video! My take on the meaning is how do we permit ourselves to recover from a loss, grief or even a disappointment. When does mourning become part of the background of your life rather than the focus? As for the vocals, you’ll find that members of PTX are very committed to presenting the best version of all songs. There doesn’t seem to be ego or jealously in any of their decisions. (I don’t know why Mitch did the sheet thing either. I used to think he loves to hide, but now I think it’s more of a cocoon thing. Who knows, ever, with Mitch?) I always love your music reactions, so thanks! Peace …

Mitch could also have been depicting the "ghost" of the relationship that has died. My guess is that this is deliberate ambiguity - you can interpret it however you need to, as long as you catch the fact that the song is about healing after the relationship ends.
