The tutorial is working on 2023 but in C4D 2024 the ropes are getting crazy the moment I hit play. The simulation parameters and the selection rope parameters are the same. Any idea? Thanks

The simulation has changed a bit since the recording of this tutorial. You may want to try turning some of the settings down to remove the craziness.

Hi Nick, great tutorial. I'm a super uber n00b and have never used C4D. But after watching this video, I'm dying to learn more. I was trying to look for Cinema 4D 2024 tutorials in your site, but all I got was for older versions. Do you have any recommendations for tutorials that are geared towards people who've never used C4D? The reason why I ask for the latest version is because the GUI has changed quite a bit over the years
@GreyscalegorillaКүн бұрын
The best thing to do is start watching videos from the last couple years. The interface is always changing. But you can start to learn the basics and then watch older videos as you get more knowledge. Welcome to the wonderful world of 3D!

Like the tutorial, but in the old toon system you could control which lines it would draw with a great deal of parameters, not just a angle. The angle thing works great for mechanical stuff but not so much for organic forms. So my question would be is there anything that gives more control over which lines to draw and which not...lets say like overlap etc.

Try searching "Rigid Body" or "Dynamic Simulation". For this effect, I used Cinema 4D Emitter and the Rigid Body tag to get this popping effect. Hope that helps.

I get frustrated with getting nice renders in the specific scenario of needing to create a series of icons for a game. Coins, for example, are needed as a single coin, a rotated coin, and small, medium and large stacks. But everyone is hand-placing lights and tuning reflections for a single view. I would love to see a technique that yielded good results regardless of camera position, and yes I do know what I'm saying. I wonder about "self-lighting" of some kind, or maybe something like a "reflect to camera" effect.
@Greyscalegorilla29 күн бұрын
it's always best to light for specific looks. But there are general lighting tips that tend to make most things look good. Try a basic Three Point Light setup. Or use one of our Studio HDRIs that are made for great lighting and reflections. Hope that helps.
@brandontyson465429 күн бұрын
@@Greyscalegorilla Thanks for your reply. I'm a photographer and do know how light works. I think exposure in general is not the hard part. It's the details on the object, specifically what's in the reflections. I use poly lights a lot to get a purposely shaped reflection, but they're only good from a specific angle.
