I'm almost at the end of Rosamunde Pilcher's Coming Home on audible. and also my lovely Persephone Books The fortnight in September, by R C Sheriff, which has become one of my favorite ever reads. It's adorable❤

Oh Jen, totally off the book topic, but my son's nursery was Peter Rabbit also, with other Beatrix Potter mixed in. It was exactly what I dreamed of 🥰

Yay for Peter Rabbit! I loved my son’s nursery (even if I didn’t complete it until he was about 9 months old because he decided to arrive 3 weeks early and I hadn’t finished it 🤦🏻♀️😂).

I'm still (re)reading the "Justified Sinner" - not the easiest book to read, but I'm finally getting (back) into it. If you like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, then this book is for you! Apparently this book inspired R.L. Stevenson to write Jekyll and Hyde.

I just finished “We’ll Prescribe You a Cat” by Syou Ishida (2024), a novel that celebrates the healing power of cats. It’s a great concept, and I think a lot of people will like it but it got a little too repetitive for me. Now I’m reading “The Road to Dalton” by Shannon Bowring (2023) about three couples in a fictional small town in Maine. It’s the first in a series. The second in the series has just been published, so I want to read both in the order they were published. I’ll try to get a library copy of “September” next September. There are too many holds on it at the moment.
@jensreadinglife2 сағат бұрын
I haven’t heard of either of the first two books you’re reading but they sound interesting! I hope you get to read September next year…you could actually read it anytime from May-Sept. since that’s when it is set. 😊

The Adventures of Miss Barbara Pym is a great biography! Would be perfect for Spinster September. I also loved Beatrix Potter A Life in Nature by Linda Lear. Your videos keep adding to my "pile of possibilities', but in a good way. We have very compatible literary tastes. Thanks for the tour and I look forward to part 2❤

I’m glad you said you liked the Jennifer Grey memoir…I will give it a second chance! The ceramic piece next to my bible is a vase in the shape of a woman’s head. I’ll DM you a close up of it. 😉 Shelly just said her son’s nursery was also Peter Rabbit…it’s such a good theme for bookworms! 😁

Would like info/author on the 3 bks. set in Ireland, The Ruin? 2nd bkshelf; Sarah Stewart Taylor series, Northern Spy Flynn Berry? Wolf Hollow and what are the Pachinko bks? Thanks so much!
@jensreadinglife2 сағат бұрын
The Cormac Reilly series that begins with The Ruin is by Dervla McTiernan. The Maggie D’Arcy series is by Sarah Stewart Taylor and follows Maggie a detective in NJ. In the first book she goes to Ireland in connection with a case that seems similar to that of her cousin who disappeared there many years before. I don’t know much about Wolf Hollow actually but Pachinko is a Korean family,y drama that spans decades. It’s excellent.

Hello! - loved this Part 1 video... I have Green Dolphin Street ( not read yet ) but loved the old movie (Lana Turner, Donna Reed, Frank Morgan, Dame May Witty) such a good oldie ( if you like old black & white movies ). I thought Audrey at Home might be the book I have - but it's different, if you like Audrey enough to collect, I picked up a beautiful picture book at a used bookstore - Audrey Hepburn - An Elegant Spirit, Picture book by her son Sean Ferrer. I saw recently that they are making a series out of Pachinko ( one of the streaming services ). loved your Hummel, I inherited so many of my Mum's when she passed, such sentimental value, how can you not love those cherubic faces! 🥰 Thought of you when I found in a second hand bookshop yesterday - 'My Bookstore - Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Browse, Read, and Shop'. Of course I couldn't leave it behind! hope you have a great reading week! Hope your weather has cooled down some - we are having such a beautiful September here in Maine - holding my breath that it sticks around for awhile!!

Someone else mentioned the Green Dolphin Street movie so I’ll be sure to watch it after I read the book! I have that Audrey Hepburn book as well…I have most of the books published about her and her movies. 🫣 I may have to do a dedicated video to her! I should have showed the Hummel close up…I got distracted by all my books. 😂 Let me know how you like My Bookstore…that sounds right up my alley. 😁
