Hi! I am enjoying your videos!! I vote for Woolf and Whipple. I read a few MacInnes books back in the 70s and 80s and found Fleming, LeCarre, Follett and Ludlum all to be better spy novels. But, you should try at least one of Helen's 🙂.

What an amazing list of possibilities! House of Mirth is one of my very favorite novels. I hope you enjoy it. I’ve been planning to try Willett for a while now. And Hannah Coulter is on my list, too-mostly because of the main character’s name… I’ll vote for Mrs. Dalloway and The Summer Book-but you can’t go wrong with that list!

Incidentally, I suspect you’ll find Dalloway surprisingly clear and easily readable.

Hi Jenn, I also am reading Rose Cottage this month or this Summer while I recoup. Today I went to my used bookstore to give my favorite worker a bk. I had 2 copies of that I thought she might like. We had a nice chat and I told her about your channel, Miranda's and Gina's. She wrote them down. What's nice about this store is: they will buy your bks, give you credit, not cash ( think they give you 50% of bk.) They keep a running g total of your credit. Then, when you go in to buy a bk. you pay 75% off the list price, paying 1/2 credit and the balance cash ( can never keep it straight but I think that is it). They will also keep a running list of bks. you want and when they come in call you! Sometimes the book takes a long time to come in. Today I hit it just right!😁 Dawn told me"Oh, I just saw a Mary Stewart book on the shelf last night that is on your list!" She went right to it (someone had shelved it wrong 😊). It is in EXCELLENT condition! "Madame, Will You Talk?" Originally $12.95 and I paid $3.19 incl. tax!!!! It brightened my day, I've had a horrible week. My sister died this past Mon. Memorial Day. Rather unexpected although very serious. A month ago she found a lump in her armpit. Next day it was bigger and grew bigger everyday as they rushed up to Boston ( we're originally from Mass. and she and husband go back there yearly for dr. appts. It was a very aggressive cancer, couldn't identify it, and put her on very strong chemo and radiation . She got very, very sick after first treatment. When they started her 2nd round of chemo they made it less strong because she was so sick. She started having breathing problems shortly after the first treatment . Kathy was admitted to ICU where she died 4 days later. My sister was the healthiest of the 4 of us siblings. Her and her husband VERY active in many sports, ate healthy, etc. I can't stop crying, can't read. If I'm not crying I'm on the verge of tears. Trying to prepare for my surgery. I am the last in my family..Kathy was 3 yrs. older than me. It is a lonely and very unsettling feeling. From the time ahe found the lump, til she died was 1 month. Her husband and I believe the chemo killed her. She never even took aspirin. I can't think, I can't do.

Oh it's been so long since I've read Edith Wharton. I need to re-read and then read more of hers, because I don't believe I read them all. Wow, the signed Wendell Berry! I've not read any of his novels, but I've read some of his poetry. I read The Summer Book earlier this year and it was delightful. The literary heir to Elizabeth Gaskell? Interesting! I should try her, because I also like Gaskell. I vote for Towles and Jansson.

I’m a Dorothy Whipple fan, so definitely Someone at a Distance. That’s one I want to read as well. Lincoln Highway is good and is a fast read! I read it, the way it was written, it should be a good audiobook. (I always listen to a sample of the narrator). I just started Touch Not the Cat, but have so many going, that I’ll put mine off until July too. Then it’ll be more fun to hear about it when it’s fresh in my mind.

Beautiful writer. HC is in Port William series. (You don't need to read in order). It's fun because the characters cross over into other titles in the series. His "small town Americana" themes really resonate with this girl cause I grew up in a similar small town way....many years ago!😂 Love your videos! Such a great when you do a new one.
