I used to drink in the Laurie Arms ( now gone) and The Hope Poles in the 1990s. My grandmother drank there in the 1930s. I used to live for a year in Black Lion Lane off King Street. I never went to the Lyric Theatre more fool me but King Street was very familiar to me for a number of years. The shopping centre was pretty good at the time and there was a Tesco in there that was one of the early smaller shops that are now everywhere.
