I am sorry about all the bad news you had last week. The worst is a storm that ruined your workshop and your knee situation. I hope insurance will cover damage to roof and to whatever was ruined. But you will need time to fix everything up. As for your knee, knee surgeries tuday are usually fully successful. It just takes time and physiotherapy. Crossing fingers things calm down. If we that follow your juoyney can help in any way, please let us know! 🍀

Wow, that's a...bit of a fixer-upper property. Looks like you've got a number of potential snake nests to clean up..a few of those old buildings seem to be on their last legs. Hope it isn't too much work or expense to remove. I've heard that getting rid of scrap wood over there is a bit of an ordeal. Maybe you can just burn it like we'd do back in the US: I wonder if the neighbors have ever had a weenie roast before :) I'm assuming the huge solar array was a selling point for the property. And yeah, that's a wild strawberry, although it looks slightly different from the ones around here. Also, I've never seen a camera or phone that could zoom the *microphone* before...that's wild.
@MatsukawaZaraki13 күн бұрын
Yes, definitely a fixer upper for sure. I'm not too worried about saving the outbuildings, especially the rear storehouse, and I can use the wood for firewood or compost easily without paying for removal. The wild strawberries here are called Snake berries from what I was told. The phone I'm using is a galaxy S24 Ultra, the first with integrated AI as well as many other features, and I also didn't know it could zoom the mic until I played the footage back hahaha Thanks for checking out the channel!

Aloha brother, you got lots of work ahead, I know I got a place in Shiga.. just thought you notice as you ride back on street how opposing traffic veers into lane to avoid hitting you - giving you wide berth, Japanese are so about respect and not wanting anyone thinking they are not kind. This is why I love Japan countryside. I'm back and forth working on my place from Hawaii - Japan. Suggest you get a large electric water heater and protect it by building a shed box - warm long showers are the best. Aloha

@acholosjourney thanks for checking it out! Yes, definitely a ton of work, but this is also a life-long project so all in good time! 😊 I'd love to see your place, do you have videos? And yes, they are so kind and helpful and very observant! They are the nicest people I have ever met by far! And apparently in my area they use heat pumps for hot water vs an electric heater, so I'll be looking to add that probably next year when I get back. Thanks again for checking it out!!

depends on lots of factors honestly, I also don't know pound conversion, but in dollars, my property taxes yearly are around $200 and the water bill is $35/year. Food is super cheap too, but electricity also depends on many factors, as well as gas, insurance, etc.

@thursday315 that's true, but also, it would increase the strain on the system as many people would buy a cheap house and then come looking for handouts or nit want to contribute and that's part of what makes it so difficult. We have to move to a more main city because of my youngest’s health issues, but this was my dream before we had her. How will the visa process be for people that want to come move out to the country towns? The biggest issue right now for most I think is the visa, unless you’re more trying to get people who already have them to move out of the cities into the countryside? Would love to come visit someday though! I think it’s the best type of area for kids especially.
@MatsukawaZaraki16 күн бұрын
We would love to get more nationals, and foreigners who can get visas first, but we can also help with anyone who is TRULY serious. First though, we'd like to meet and evaluate the people to see if they are a good fit, and most countries have free 90 day visas, so we can start there for an evaluation period and if everything works out, we can work on a more permanent visa situation. We don't want "just anyone" we want good people, and unfortunately, when a cheap or free option is laid out, many opportunistic people will try to take advantage for their own personal gain, but we're looking for people who care about the community, not just themselves, so it will take a bit of searching to find good fits.
