it’s unprofessional that ppl have to go on YT to figure out how to drain the humidity, they should recommend video on instructions but then that might interfere w future sales. I have not had to drain mine yet but was wondering how. Mind can run on dehumidifier to keep room normal but was concerned I would have to drain too often so I just run a/c.

I just attach the hose that come with it and let it drip in a bucket. Drain it when it’s full. You can let it run all night and not have to worry about the bucket over filling. Pour out the bucket in the morning.

@ZLhow2 Ай бұрын
Hi, Sorry for the delayed response. How often to drain it depends on the type of your air conditioner. If you have a Non-Self-Evaporating AC, then the best way to tell when to drain is to check the tanks every day. After a while you'll get a sense of how often to drain. Or, you could simply wait until the unit shows the code that says you need to drain it. Many portable ACs use code P1 indicating a full tank, but you should check your Owner's Manual for your unit's draining code. If your AC is Fully or Partially Self-Evaporating, then it evaporates most of the water in the tank. BTW, we made a follow up video on how to drain without lifting - it's much easier and safer. Here is the link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2ikga2PaJ6JpJo Hope it helps, and stay cool!

Yes!!! I put mine on one of those furniture dollys with wheels so if I want to move it to another room or out of the way to clean, it just glides, and it's high enough to easily drain. It was a nightmare before. I don't drain into a bin but I open the cap and put a large collage cheese container under the spout. When it's full, I need to have 2 containers on hand. Hi, If you have a Non-Self-Evaporating AC, then draining every few hours in hot and humid weather is normal. With this type of AC we would suggest continuous draining with a hose as a possibility. When using continuous draining, make sure your hose goes either to a large bucket, or out the window to the outside. If the hose needs to go upward to get out the window, then you might need to get a condensate pump to push the water out. But if your AC is a Self-Evaporating unit and it generates lots of water frequently, then we would suggest that you check your filters and coils to make sure they are clean. How to clean them , here are the links to our videos: for filter- kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXOxnHiqmb2egNU and for coils - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmjEmKOHm9SdqM0 If cleaning them doesn't help, then we would recommend calling customer service or a technician.

I have a very old portable AC that we haven't used for a very long time I mean years by that, I started using it recently and it's working fine and cooling is very good as well, but it doesn't drain at all, it has one draining hose (not a plug, just an opened small hose) at the bottom, I tried to blow it as it might be clogged and I felt that it was blocked by something and it went off by blowing it, but still not draining, I'm thinking maybe it evaporate all the water but why there would be a draining port if it's not going to drain! What do you think? I couldn't even find any information or manual in the internet of my AC type.

Hi, It seems like you have a Self-Evaporating AC. We have one of those also, and both tanks have a drain spout even though we only had to drain it once when it was brand new (as shown in the video). We haven't drained it since then. We figured that the drain spouts are for the worst-case scenario, when heat and humidity might overwhelm the evaporating system. So far, so good!

Thank you for your comment. The water that you see in our video was from the first time we ever drained it, just a few hours after setting it up. The Manual had said that there might be lots of water after the initial use, and since we didn't have a hose (the hose wasn’t included then), we put it on a stool and placed a large container under the bottom spout to prevent any splashing. But there was not much water, and that was the first and last time that we had that much water - about a cup or less as you can see. Also, that was the first and last time we lifted it - we found a way to drain without lifting, much easier and safer. (see below for the link). After couple of weeks, we stopped checking altogether, and never have drained the unit since there was almost no water in the tanks. So the Self-Evaporating feature does its job very well even in a very hot and humid days. Here is the link for draining without lifting a unit -kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2ikga2PaJ6JpJo

Hi, the first thing we always recommend is a thorough cleaning of the filter and coils. Without that your unit is never going to perform well. Here are the link for cleaning them: for filter- kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXOxnHiqmb2egNU and for coils - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmjEmKOHm9SdqM0 . If you noticed sludge in your drain spouts, you can clear that out with a pipe cleaner. If you wanted to check further about possible sludge in the tank/s, you might have to remove the casing of your unit. We would not suggest putting any water into the tanks, because it might overflow insight the unit and cause damage to electrical parts. Hope this helps, and good luck!

If you have a Self-Evaporating AC, you may never have to drain it except possibly when you run it for the first time like what we showed in our video on the day of purchase. Later we realized that there was no need to drain because there was hardly any water build up in the tank. Since than we haven't had to drain it. A bath towel is big enough to absorb all the water in one go. My problem is that now after a month of use, the vent hose keeps coming out of the sliding panels, and the clips are not held anymore. @@ZLhow2 Thanks so much for responding! I guess they are not "clips" even though they attach to the panel. You said tongue and groove is a better description. They slide onto the panel piece and perhaps the vibration loosens them, even though in the beginning they were extremely tight. I hate to jinx myself, but my solution has worked for 5 days since I first wrote you! I redid the entire panel by removing the exhaust tube, and heating up my trusty glue gun, re-attached the tube to the panel, and glued the heck out of the connection, lol! I also "re-bent" the tube to relieve the pulling pressure on the joint, and now the height is supported by boxes. I'm sorry this is so long; thank goodness it's working, and I hope it's easy to understand without seeing it! My towel method is working out well, thank you! Have a good weekend and thank you again for your time!

It's great to hear that you devised a working solution for the vent hose. It seems like the glue will take care of the situation for a good long time. Congratulations!! And have a good cool weekend too.

Ours leaks non stop. We have ours on a table with a hose running into a plastic litter bucket. We dump it about 3 × a day

Hi, If you have Non Self-Evaporating AC, the water will build up fast in hot and humid weather. Also, check you filters and coils to make sure they are clean. If they are dirty, that could contribute to the problem. We have videos on how to clean them, here are the links: for filter- kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXOxnHiqmb2egNU and for coils - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmjEmKOHm9SdqM0
