It looks like shade tree mechanics Why didn’t you just take the fan shroud off? And then take the fan off and pull the damn radiator out. Thank God I’m not one of your subscribers.

These videos are a great help! I have a '72 Elky that was disassembled 20 years ago by a body shop that tried to paint the car. They shut down before it was finished. Car sat for 15 years and was finally painted but that shop did not reassemble the windows. I hope I have all the parts, but your explanation of how things go together will be a huge help. Thanks!

Thanks for the question. Honestly I don’t recall what grit it was, but it’s the one that harbor freight sells. If you’ll read SWILLING’s comment below, he has some really good detail about what he did with one of his cars. The guy is an ace. He said that his bag had red lettering and I think I recall mine having black lettering so mine may have been a medium versus a fine.

Great job! My 2010 Passat 2.0L TSI needs timing chain done. Fortunately, it failed (tensioner) when I was trying to start the car and wasn't driving. Your videos will be of great help.

There is absolutely no need to disturb the A/C condensor or intercooler. You run the risk of damaging the A/C hoses. Take the air filter box out, and then remove both induction tubes from the turbo to intercooler and from intercooler to the intake air horn on the engine. With these pipes out the radiator lifts straight up after hoses and shroud are disconnected.

The intake pipes from the turbo to intercooler and from intercooler to engine intake must be removed. The intercooler is not in the way of anything but the trans cooler and with the right wrenches that should not be an issue either.

At 11:00 in the video he realizes the "charge pipes" have to be removed for the radiator to clear when lifting it out. The intercooler is not in the way, its the charge pipes connecting to it that are the obstacle.. If you have an automatic trans the cooler is held to the radiator by two bolts, up high, and sits in two notches in the radiator lower down, take the bolts out and lift the cooler enough to move it forward and let it sit in place. Every video I have seen, they take the A/C condenser and the intercooler out and I'm still scratching my head as to why. I did my '03 radiator without touching them.

Really could have used some footage about how the body molding comes off at the rear of the fender. Those funky spring clips are a pain in the butt and I can't figure out how they go back on and I thought maybe your video might help me out if I saw how they were removed again but you're just showing what you did not how it's done sorry bud but not very helpful as far as informational material goes. I am ok. Career change, not my choice. Health issue but nothing serious. Budget issues, ran out of money for my hobbies after I built my shop. Dammit. Depression is a bitch. Got laid off. Covid hit. Another career change and I’ve been working two jobs since August of last year and three since the end of May. Can’t seem to find time for the fun stuff lately. Thank you for checking in.
