Hi! It's funny how many hikers want to start hiking on the very first day of every month. This therefore causes congestion in accommodation. But perhaps it is the easiest to calculate the elapsed time. I'll try to remember this when I plan my next Camino... More people should like your video, it's great! 🫒Buen Camino! 🫒

Thanks for the whole series, it truly is one of the best I’ve watched. You were very lucky with the weather on that last day, I’m pretty sure I was three days in front of you and I could hardly see Ben Nevis but I still enjoyed mtge final day tremendously anyway. Like you I had a great sense of achievement and fulfilment but at sixty five years old I was also relieved I made it without any major dramas.

I am watching your video. And really love it Just wonder, what time did you start walking in the morning?
@friendsthathike5729Ай бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope you found it insightful. For the first two weeks I started walking at 6am every morning, but I found that I was walking in the dark for quite a bit and missing a lot of the views. So the last two weeks I decided to start walking at 7:30am, which I found to be the perfect time because that was around sunrise (which is my favorite time of the day) and I was able to see so much more.
@BTurner.Ай бұрын
Once again I have to say thanks for a superb video, so much better than my own attempt. You were very fortunate with the weather from Kingshouse, it was heavy rain and poor visibility on the day of my walking that section so I didn’t get the views you had. Your videos are a pleasure to watch. Bob
@friendsthathike5729Ай бұрын
Thanks again Bob! I was definitely lucky this day. Honestly it was such a treat after being wet for 3 days straight. But I can't imagine being caught in a storm in this section. Glad your enjoying the videos.

Walked the WHW last year, also End of August, Beginning of September. Was also lucky with the weather.
@friendsthathike5729Ай бұрын
Nice. The first 3 days I was out there I wasn't so lucky. It wasn't until I hiked from Tyndrum to Kingshouse that it finally cleared up. Then the rest of my trip was pretty much clear skies. Such a welcome after being wet for 3 days straight. What's next for you?

The tone and pace at which you speak is nature given. In shock of sorts...It reminds me how much I need to reset, myself. In the dopamine fuelled city, we gibber speech, rather than unwind speech, as you do here. I realise hugely that I miss having that. Thank you
@friendsthathike5729Ай бұрын
Wow, I never saw it from that perspective. I live in a pretty large city as well and I always try to make a point to get out in nature. Nature is truly the greatest form of therapy. I'm glad I was able to remind you to get back in touch with yourself. Thank you for watching and I hope you can get out there soon. All the best to you.
@BTurner.Ай бұрын
Another superb video, thanks. I did the same, Tyndrum to Kinghouse but the weather for me wasn’t so kind and I didn’t have those views so it was great to see what I couldn’t. By the way, you’ve just gained a new subscriber. 😊
@friendsthathike5729Ай бұрын
Thank you for your support! It is much appreciated. 🙌 I can't imagine being caught in a storm during this stage, considering how open and unsheltered a lot of this section is.

@@friendsthathike5729 Yes, on the Monday I walked from Kinghouse to beyond Kinlochleven in it. No real views from the top of the Devils staircase and the walk up the hill out of Kinlochleven was like walking up a stream. I had a meal in a pub in Kinlochleven and lots of people were trying to find accommodation for the night rather than camping.

Thank you! Your going to have such a life changing experience, as long as you go with an open heart and zero expectations. The first few weeks I left between 5:30am-6am. Mainly because I wanted to get into town a little earlier to rest and explore the villages. However, I did have to walk in the dark for a few hours, and sadly I missed a lot of the views. About halfway through I started leaving a little bit later around 7am, which ended up being the perfect time because 1) there was enough daylight to see the landscape and 2) we were still able to catch those beautiful sunrises, which was my favorite time of the day. I used my iPhone 12! 🤓Ultreia et Suseia!
