I love the movie, bought the book a year ago. They tried their best but tentacle monsters would have likely scratched the itch of the dullard.

Connery was such a great actor. He just commanded the scenes he was in, in this film. Very regal and majestic. I also liked Dragonheart where he voiced Draco the Dragon.

this film is so good and deserves so much more love and attention. THank you so much for this. Also IDK if this is the way you usually narrate, but your voiceover reminds me of the voiceover in the film. If intentional, A+. if unintentional, still A+.

Love the book Like the movie. Every time I watch this I always feel like it is missing a beat. Like if they had kept the part of the story where Norm fights the giant squid that would serve as a great climax both for the sake of spectacle and narrative.

Because Crichton wove an incredible story and ends it with everyone just agreeing to forget that it ever happened? I felt so ripped off when I got to the end. It's a regular thing with Crichton. He did it for "The Andromeda Strain" and "Congo" too. Fool me once, shame one you, fool me twice, shame on me, I don't what to call it having fallen for it three times. He writes incredible stories, and the sometimes can't come up with a good ending, so he comes up with a sort of "Deus Ex Machina" ending. I'm reading the comments, and everyone seems to love the story while ignoring the lack of payoff at the end.

@@minkymott - 😁put an underscore at the beginning of the word (or sentence) and an underscore at the end of the word or sentence. Underscore must connect no space

@@minkymott This is an underscore symbol: _ It's just above and slightly to the right of your P key on a normal keyboard (hold shift while hitting it). Put that before whatever you want italicized and right after (no spaces) _Then your text will look like this_

The Thirteenth Warrior is a masterclass in storytelling. Language, heroes, myths, discovery, and a basis in both history and mythology. Michael Crichton was a genius. The cast well brought forth his vision.

Holy crap, you are an artist! I’m so tired of these snarky, cynical KZbin reviewers, your format is refreshing and to the point. You are the Polyphonic of movie review, thank you Edit: this movie was a budget punisher but was able to break the stupid video game movie curse even if it wasn’t that good of a movie

I have been a case manager, case worker, case officer, etc in the social welfare system for 37 years, and Rooney Mara is so spot on as a heavily traumatized victim of childhood abuse. I never saw the Swedish film, and don’t need to just to find out how accurate Rapace was in displaying a realistic portrayal of how far child abuse will effect child development. Reading comments on line, reviews, talking heads, etc, have no effing clue just how, and why, Mara was impressive my guess is that Mara signed more than a few HIPAA authorizations during her research for this role.

What I love about the second movie is how it references Chili's Rio Lobo/Rio Bravo comment from the first. Both Rios are the same movie, different actors playing the same basic characters, but John Wayne is playing John Wayne in all of it. The two movies get meta on themselves. I think of the two movies as "East Coast Chili" vs "West Coast Chili". In general I prefer the East Coast recipe. But the "Sin. Ms. Moon. Dabu. PLAYA" exchanges in movie two live rent free in my brain.

I watched it for the first time a couple of years ago and didn't think much of it. Then a friend gifted me a copy of the book for my birthday a week ago, so I decided to rewatch it. And it's a let-down. The narration never stops and is outright disruptive. And the lack of a consistent tone and a frantic pacing left me with whiplash going from scene to scene. It needed to slow down, be longer, or a mix of both. Let the mystery have time to settle. Trust the audience to put some of the pieces together. The dinner date at the church was especially bad, with both Anton Yelchin and Addison Timlin rushing through their lines. The decision to have Stormy more involved than she was in the book was a good choice, but it felt more like they were partners in crime than in love.

Yeah, I found this movie recently and I can't get why this thing is so under the radar. Everything the narrator said here about this video is so true. Everybody is in this film: Jay Baruchel, who has an uncanny talent for working with just about everybody! (Eastwood, Stiller, Downey, Nic Cage, America Ferrara, Alice Eve, Alexis Bidel and so many others) an excellent job! Kurt Russell, Matt Dillon Terence Stamp (Remember Larry Wildman from Wall Street?) and so many others, it's a very awesome cast. Well done. Had so much fun watching this, and when you watch for the 2nd, 3rd, or even 10th time you discover something new. My favorite scene: Kurt Russell and Matt Dilllon walking down the street and Dillon's character pickpockets two different people, one a nine-year-old Chinese girl, and Kurt Russell's speech to him. So funny!!!

What I like so much about this movie is everyone but John Travolta. Chili Palmer is written as a two dimensional, too cool to be believed character. Travolta's rendition is what you'd expect from a an author who most likely embellishes Chili Palmer to ad naueum. I think Travolta is much better when he's frantic and nervous. The rest of the cast is spot on and much more entertaining.
