I hope the Wildhearts are getting more recognition now (even in the US) coz they were on fucking fire back the those days and well you only have to hear those early EPs and albums (even their b-sides were amazing) to see what I mean. They are respected now but they could have have been world-wide HUGE.....maybe it was never meant to be. I got into them as a school kid buying the singles from PHUQ and they are just one of the most joyous and ecstasy-inducing heavy rock bands of all time

Nice interview. Talking about the only time that matters in Inspiral Carpets history. 89-94. Wish we still had the fanzines so we could all tell Clint to get Tom Hingley who sang all their glory years tracks back on vocals instead of the terrible Steve Holt who they have now because unlike 89- 2011 when they were a formidable live act they don't sound so great now. But thanks for the interview i enjoyed it.

@Ryan: Back again for another commentary.... You are correct, I couldn't find anything on the band for the demo you represent, unless they are that Baltimore band from Maryland state, who put out the album Lemon Fresh in 1998? But you are also correct in that the band from Maryland sounds much more "power pop". Not a bad band either: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZyviImhabylras Maybe they did change stylistically? Who knows?

Yup. Music consumption is the same way I feel about proper photographers vs all the AI "content" and ridiculously filtered shit on Instagram. All creative fields have become oversaturated and effectively free, so the real artists are... meaningless to society, proved by $0.0003/stream. I'm out cuz I was always passionate about being involved as the guy to get people's music finished, whether as a co-writer, producer, collaborator, coach, etc. No one has cash flow anymore. Now the only person who I can "bank" on having more than intentions, and actually showing up, is me... and I never had any desire to work alone or be THE artist... nor am I financed or technically set up for it. Hate it. Feel like all my gear, time spent, money spent, and pain spent were a total waste. Worst is that passion overlapped so much with pain through it all that I've largely lost my love for music altogether, which has defined me since infancy.

Big fan of Marion, from Macclesfield, who were managed by The Smiths manager. Saw them many times back then and when they reformed briefly in more recent times. Good to hear. However the presenter on GLR is Robert Elms ( long time BBC London show host), not Gary Crowley! Both radio legends and good friends and both QPR fans. Do you know which iconic band one of the (two) Marion guitarists has been in for a good few years now?
@VintageAlternative22 күн бұрын
@@interpoluk It IS in fact, Gary Crowley! As confirmed by Gary himself! Haha. He had a show which ran from 90-97 on Greater London Radio. How cool that the band had the same manager as The Smiths! Tell me more about the guitar player! Thanks for watching, & really appreciate the comment 🙌🏻🎶🍻

@Ryan Thank you for showing the demo for this band Marion! It seems as though Steve wasn't too hip on the Marion demos. In any event, after watching your video, I quickly jumped on eBay, and picked up a copy of Marion's first studio album (This World and Body) on CD. It had a U.S. release, and copies of the first album can still be had for quite reasonable prices on CD. Thankfully, I managed to score a copy in like new condition for the tune of $5.00. I am on the hunt for the second album also on CD (The Program), but was only released in the U.K. In my opinion, this was a lost U.K. Britpop band, whose releases deserved far better than being relegated to the cut-out bins! Maybe Steve will have to go back and listen to the first album proper. The studio versions are much more impactful in my humble opinion. Thanks for your guy's review, and it was great of you to introduce me to yet another band who actually had proper studio recordings!

Ryan & Steve, thank you for bringing The Ursulines back from nonexistence! My name is Rick, and I played on this demo. I have not heard this in a very long time! Someone who saw this video (and a previous one) liked the music and found my old Google Voice number online and gave me a call. What a trip! Unfortunately, Cory passed away ten years ago. I haven’t talked to Derek or Ted since the 90’s. Those were fun times… we played a lot of shows in Chicago and had a decent following of folks from Loyola University in Rogers Park, where the four of us lived. Anyway, there is another demo tape by The Ursulines before this one (probably ‘91), which I wasn’t a part of, and I don’t have a copy of that one either. I’ll get in touch with a friend that might have it. If you’re willing-I would love a digital transfer of this demo. Made me smile to hear it again, and it actually sounds alright! If I ever get a copy of the earlier one, I’ll send it over. Thanks again!
