I'm a recovering emetophobic. I do still have my moments but after four months of counselling two years ago, I have more control over it.

You are you and should be proud of that. To be honest, most kids won't care or notice because you are an awesome babysitter who plays fun games and takes care of them. If a kiddo does ask a question out of curiosity, remind them that everyone is unique and special. Tell them something you think makes them special. Everyone likes to feel special. Hope this helps.

It is totally okay to think about babysitting at 12! I took my Safe Sitter babysitting class when I was 12, and I was prepared going into my first job a month later. I would suggest talking with your parents and taking a babysitting class like I did if they think you are ready. It was super helpful to make sure I was prepped for whatever came my way.

WHY AM I HERE
@GracelynKluksdahl-g5bАй бұрын
Thank you so much for these tips!!! I have two brothers that are 9-6 years of age, and 50% of the time they have trouble listening to me when I am babysitting them. Sometimes, the way I handle problems in situations don't work, probably because I'm not doing them right! When I saw this video, a light bulb came to me, and I began to realize that these tips are a lot better! ❤😊
@BabysitterBoss11 күн бұрын
I totally get it. When I watch my younger cousins, sometimes it feels like a nightmare. But, then I remember they are still learning about how to interact with the world and what boundaries they can and can't push. So, I take a deep breath, remember that I need to set an example, and remain calm but firm. Sometimes a distraction like a game or coloring works great to refocus! And sometimes everyone just needs a few minutes to reset, and then you come back and try again. You are doing great Babysitter Boss. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for these tips! Sometimes, I struggle when I have to watch over my younger siblings. Most of the time I do well when I watch over them, but there are times where I am overwhelmed and start to get impatient. It's very important to know how to treat a younger child when you're watching them! 😅

Allergies?
@BabysitterBoss11 күн бұрын
You should absolutely ask about any allergies a kid may have! Some allergies may be minor, but some are real serious (like need an EpiPen type serious). Going in knowing about any allergies will help you in the long run and make sure the kiddos stay safe. Thanks so much for the great question!

Hey babysitters boss I think for the next episode if the kid is old enough, you should do an episode of the kid getting there period bc I remember I was babysitting a girl who I've been babysitting for a while and she comes to me she was saying her stomach hurts but I thought she just had to go to the bathroom so when she did she screamed so I ran to the door and she runs up to me and when I look down she had blood on her pants so she was crying so I get her cleaned up changed her clothes all that so I call her parents asked if they wanted me to explain what was going on and they said yes so I did and she told me she was scared and gave me a hug bc(I was babysitting her for about a couple of years so we grew like a sister bond) I was like an older sister to her so I hugged her back and told her she was going to be ok so then I gave her a heating pad that I keep in my babysitters bag for this reason bc she was getting cramps and then we watched a movie in her room until her parents got home mind u I’m almost 15 and she is 10 and the parents were so impressed on how I handled the situation

Hey there! That can be really tough. The best thing to do is to distract the child with a toy or game as the parents are leaving. Let me know if that works!

Wait what about break ins
@BabysitterBoss11 күн бұрын
I know they sound scary, but a break-in is extremely rare. But here are some tips in the rare case it were to happen to you. And this goes for Babysitting or if you are home alone scrolling TikTok. If you do think someone is trying to enter the house, make sure that all doors and windows are locked. Also, turn on all inside lights. If you can turn on any outside lights from the inside, that is great too. Never open the door to anyone you aren't expecting (so DoorDash is cool if you know they are coming). Check any windows or peepholes to make sure they are who they say they are. If they shouldn't be there, do not let them in. Do not open the door. If a visitor keeps trying to get in, won't go away, or keeps coming back, call 911 immediately. Again, it is incredibly rare for these situations to pop up, but now you have the info to stay safe and calm if it ever does. Great question and I hope this helps!

When I’m 14 and legally allowed to become a babysitter in my state I’ll bring some paper toy moths in I’ll put them on a stick and say catch the moth this is going to happen in the playroom or a spaced out area so nobody gets hurt this hack is to let kids let out their energy without being distructive and simply crazy and hyper then if they are really good they will have their favorite moth toy at the end if they were good but if they were really bad and if they were kids 5 and up then they wouldn’t get 5e moth or butterfly toy bc they simply need to know you don’t get rewarded for bad behavior and maybe next time they’ll get it:3

Also make bedtime into a game take it from me I’m 10 if you make it into a race or a game then it’s fun also have a race to see who can fall asleep first if they have siblings or a stuffed animal ask the parents if you can give them a small prize in the morning such as a tiny chocolate piece also I’m 10 and when I’m tired if I just become not wanting to be hyper anymore not playing or doing art saying I don’t feel too well or just watching the iPad in bed for more then 2 hours without getting up too much just tell me to put the iPad down and try to sleep that’s basically how I know and how u can know if anyone here would babysit I’ll be asleep within 5 to 10mins

This reminds me of a time when I was babysitting and I had to vomit. I just made sure the kids were watching TV at the highest volume and went to the bathroom to vomit. I happened to get there just in time. This was a few years ago and still neither the parents nor the kids know that I vomited😅Hopefully they aren’t reading my comment right now! Turns out I actually had a pretty bad case of the stomach flu😂
