Bravo ! ... une femme qui a un excellent tempérament = c'est enlevé et vigoureux! Scarlatti mérite bien ça, et à la guitare; c'est super (belle et rare dynamique)

A confession: I love classical guitar that doesn’t sound like a gymnastics competition. This is wonderful when contemplative. Thank you.

Majestic. I was lucky enough to see him in concert c1993. He played exceptionally well and was a captivating personality.

Magnificent. Thanks for making this available. I wonder why he never recorded it. Why does John Williams never play the Walton Bagatelles? Or does he?

Great! I saw Lynne's debut concert in the Wigmore Hall in London in 1977. I enjoyed it a lot. I remember John Duarte smoking his pipe in the foyer complaining about it being a rent-a-program. She certainly played a lot of old favourites, but it was still a good concert. JD, God rest his soul, used to complain about a lot of things.

This festival was notorious for its deathbed tuberculous audiences, ever eager to drown every note in loud, nervous cough.

Thank you for uploading this recording! I have never listened to this unique interpretation of the 4th Bagatelle by Julian Bream before. Is it possible that I can contact you to chat further? I have conducted some extensive research on the Five Bagatelles by William Walton in the previous years.

Bream at its best. Terrific performance.

Something about the players of that generation...bream, Williams, segovia. Maybe it was the instruments, maybe their technique, but they had something that few if any players today have, a quality to their playing and sound that I just don't hear anymore. A beauty and sonority, almost a softness to their touch when plucking the strings.
@LeonardoGarciaguitar7 ай бұрын
I bet the fact that they were not using carbon strings, often favored by a lot of modern players, and the choice of incredible instruments they were using like Fleta, Romanillos, Hauser, etc....contributes to the beauty and sonority of their touch that you notice.

Segovia was 40 years older than Bream, hardly the same generation. But I agree about the uniqueness.

It's great to hear this broadcast again after so many years and especially the Fricker. This is a highly underrated work,which has a haunting, pensive and obsessional quality about it. Paseo should be played much more.

Neat that KZbin allows us Canadian guitar fans to hear the works we may have seen written in an old catalogue. Truly great, virtuosic and colourful playing of an evocative piece. Congratulations -

Scarlatti's music in his day was considered "impossible" to play, Santiago de Compostela in Spain, still archives the vast repertoire of Scarlatti to this day.
