On a scale of 1-10 10 being definately have a mechanic do it. How do you rate this job for the average person to complete? Is it just time consuming or is it really difficult? I wanted to do this job myself but I would need to complete it in a day as my neighborhood frowns on working on cars. (Sucks but that is what I get)

Raymond Mills Definitely have a mechanic do the job. Honestly, this was my first video, and I left out a lot of important info. This really just turned out to be a reference for anyone who knows how to work on vehicles.

Do the front brakes have contact points to grease up? Also does each tire need a sensor or is it just the right side?
@endsupremacy2010
@endsupremacy2010 10 жыл бұрын
Ivan Rey Yes, there are contact points to grease up. The sensors, if I recall correctly, are on all four tires.

Thanks for posting this video. I stripped the Torx screw that held the rotor on my MB ML320. I tried a couple different screw extraction bits, but they didn't work. I saw your video and tried your method. Success! I'm glad I didn't have to drill the stuck screw out.

I'm about to try this, and your video is an outstanding primer on the process. One item that I think might make disassembly easier (if I'm looking at the part correctly) is it looks like there is a parking brake tension adjuster attached by springs to the PB shoes. If you back that down, would it make it easier to remove the rotor?

My local VW wants to charge me $72.99 for the code, even though I have both the serial number (thanks to this video) and the VIN. Basically, they want to charge 1/2 hour labour just for the time it takes them to enter in the info I retrieved get me the code. Since my local VW dealer isn't much help without paying through the nose, what is my next best option?
@endsupremacy2010
@endsupremacy2010 10 жыл бұрын
Scott Baptist Sorry I wasn't able to get back to you sooner. Unfortunately, there really isn't much you can do. They're supposed to give it to you for free since you did all the labor work. You can try calling VW themselves and explain what's going on. I've also heard of services that are offered on ebay or online where you pay $10 or so and they get the code for you. Not the way I would go, but putting it out there.

Hey bud, thanks for making this video and posting it. A quick questions, at which point of the process do you replace the water pump?
@endsupremacy2010
@endsupremacy2010 10 жыл бұрын
Vrag1 I'm sorry I neglected to change the water pump for this video. You can change the water pump once the coolant is drained, and the timing belt is off. I did record video of me changing the water pump, but I had technical issues and wasn't able to make a video out of it. So I had to delete the footage. Sorry.

This was a great video!!! I changed out my battery this morning on my 04 VW Touareg and it was easy as pie, thanks to your video!!!! Only issue I had was having the right tools because the last bolt on the frame needed a 8mm hex to remove. Second trip to the store to get that.

It would seem that on porsche cayenne you only need to remove the first two bolts that are under those plastic covers in the front, not the full frame under the seat and everything else. Are you sure it's not the same on your VW ? Check this link out, it has all the pictures www.6speedonline.com/forums/cayenne-955-957/293464-cayenne-turbo-battery-replacement-guide-diy.html

Jamal A I believe you're correct. After I made this video, I received quite a few comments about that. I did take a look, without actually taking it apart, and it did look like it wasn't necessary to take out the whole thing.

I have a 2011 Cayenne S. I believe the brake systems are the same on the Touareg and Cayenne...and hopefully from the '05 to the '11...? Do you know?
@endsupremacy2010
@endsupremacy2010 10 жыл бұрын
Tom Gore I know the brakes are the same on Touaregs and Cayennes. However, I don't know if they're the same all 6 years in a row. That being said, brakes are not that different in general. If you can learn how to do brakes and do them a few times, you can do brakes on almost anything. Just inquire and make sure there are no other electronics involved beside the brake wear sensor, and you should be able to do the job.

mate how is this video gettin someones pin etc????? am i missing something here,or arent you just telling folk to remove radio,get serial no,then goto dealers & PAY for pin code?am i right?most dealerships(if you pay £25 for pin code)will come outside & remove radio to get serial no anyway lol
@endsupremacy2010
@endsupremacy2010 10 жыл бұрын
Martin Thomson No, that's not what I'm saying. If you show them the serial number and proof you own the car (title, registration, etc.), they're supposed to give you the PIN for free. Since you did all the labor work yourself.If you hand them the serial number, there's no need for them to go and take out the radio and get it.

Nice vid, but anything past 12.00 minutes in this you can save: the rear seat mounts are hinged in front of their mounting. After removing the 2 front bolts, you can lift the front of the seat up to gain full access to the battery compartment. The back rest has to be all the way forward, seat front all the way up. Seat is in most forward position for this. Takes me about 15 minutes to do a battery exchange this way. And no sweat.....
