First off, thank you for the video. Second, for everyone's knowledge, you do not have to take all these bolts out or the seat from the frame. Just the very front 2 bolts in the floor board, then the rear bolt covers. The seat tilts all the way back. You can see at 15:00 where you take the frame out, that it is hinged at the rear.

You are absolutely correct. When I made this video, I had gotten the instructions online somewhere. It was real hard to find a how-to for this. That's why I made this video. Thanks for pointing that out to my viewers. And thank you for watching and sharing.

Super demo. Found the battery in a drained state one morn. Left the interior lites on. No problem, took out my trusty charger, popped the hood and boom.....Where's the battery.,,,,I settled for the visible terminals. Attached charger and twenty minutes later,,,,I lit off the the ole 3 litre turbo diesel. Prob. solved. Gave the battery location no thought until I was brousing KZbin and saw your demo. Well Gosh darn. There it is. I remember my Dad's ole 40 something sedan, Same location. LMAO

Thank you very much!!!!! I just replaced my battery in 2004. By the way the two rear bolts that hold black frame do not need to be unbolted because the frames just raises up to the back after front two bolts taken out. Thanks a lot for detailed tutorial again!!!

Thank you VERY MUCH for this video. For the Cayenne, there is a screw holding down the power cables for the electric seat that you have to remove. Also, you need a TORX. Keep your metric sockets handy. I had this die on a Friday. and the dealer is closed all weekend for service, so I was in a major bind. It took a while, and folks, for a Cayenne S, make sure you have the TORX, but this video is AWESOME and saved my weekend!!! (And about $200 labor at least) BTW-My battery cost $200

You're welcome. I get a lot of thanks for this video. Mainly because it saves people at least $125 by not taking it to VW. The thanks that I get is what keeps me making videos.

Thank you very very much! I just changed out the battery on a 2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Every step was exactly how you describe it. It took me an hour to do it. I could imagine how much Porsche would have charged me. Thank you again.

This was a great video!!! I changed out my battery this morning on my 04 VW Touareg and it was easy as pie, thanks to your video!!!! Only issue I had was having the right tools because the last bolt on the frame needed a 8mm hex to remove. Second trip to the store to get that.

Nice vid, but anything past 12.00 minutes in this you can save: the rear seat mounts are hinged in front of their mounting. After removing the 2 front bolts, you can lift the front of the seat up to gain full access to the battery compartment. The back rest has to be all the way forward, seat front all the way up. Seat is in most forward position for this. Takes me about 15 minutes to do a battery exchange this way. And no sweat.....

So, funny story... The dealer ended up having to change my battery. It was giving AWD errors on startup and apparently that is the an early sign of low battery voltage. So, I should be good for a few years.

I used an AutoCraft battery. Silver edition. I got it at Advance Auto Parts. They have great deals online for batteries. I also found a 30% coupon. So compared to all other places, I saved about $70-$80.

Hi, I have question. Does your headlights always stay on no matter what, while the car is running and parked? Reason asking is because this is the case with my car which is also a 2005 touareg. The VW service dept told me this is a set feature on this car.

It would seem that on porsche cayenne you only need to remove the first two bolts that are under those plastic covers in the front, not the full frame under the seat and everything else. Are you sure it's not the same on your VW ? Check this link out, it has all the pictures www.6speedonline.com/forums/cayenne-955-957/293464-cayenne-turbo-battery-replacement-guide-diy.html

Jamal A I believe you're correct. After I made this video, I received quite a few comments about that. I did take a look, without actually taking it apart, and it did look like it wasn't necessary to take out the whole thing.
