That was crap, like American 500 speedway. Tracks too small and too slipperry. An embarrassment to the riders, don't ever let this happen again.

Almost 30 years after this was made, high-floor buses were still allowed to operate on Sydney's bus network. It's quite crazy to think about, but it's a good thing that all buses are now accessible.

It took just three residents to close off speedway at the Showground. What a sick joke. The shameful Day when the majority loses was the Day democracy in this country died. Now it’s open slather for anybody to complain and sue. Wokes was certainly very much alive back then. 😡😡

Usual annoying and clueless Aussie race commentators...
@frenzalrhomb69194 ай бұрын
What "race commentators" were these, mate? If you're referring to the on-field Public Address loudspeakers, then I could hear it, but I couldn't really make out much of what they were saying at all. But you're right. They often hire "the wrong bloke," mostly because it's thought that he sounds "good on the mic," not because he knows what he's talking about! He's probably the regular bloke they get in to do the announcing for the harness racing. But it wouldn't have hurt them to get the "right person" for the bloody job, would it? Makes you want to scream sometimes, so I'm glad I missed most of it!!

Very well done video. I was hoping it would have a better ending but those were very dangerous days in open wheel racing. Took lots of courage and skill to drive them, and even then sometimes bad luck would just catch up, just like it did this young man.

No longer matters, but I could never understand why they never took a foot or so off the infield all the way round to make it a better shape for racing. As I always comment on vids from THE Sydney Showground, though, it is an absolute tragedy that the venue is no more due to selfish nimbies.
