The biggest treat of my childhood was being taken to western springs by my Dad and Uncle every year, I remember well the 50 lapper and I used to love watching Sleepy Trip and Bad Boy Butterworth !! such amazing memories and the smell ! Just wonderful

I've had the pleasure of seeing both Sleepy Trip and Larry Rice race here in Australia, although at different times.

The mighty Midgets were sensational. How good was that race?

Thanks for posting all of this superb Speedway action from a few (well, for you and me it's only a few!!) years ago!! It's really interesting that Mike Raymond went over to New Zealand to do this telecast. Fantastic. I had no idea.

I remember having seen Larry Rice, Rich Vogler, Johnny Rutherford,"Sleepy" Tripp, Doug Wolfgang, Jack Hewitt, a Teenager by the name of Jac Haudenschild, some other cheeky bugger that called himself Steve "THE KING" Kinser (and a whole tribe of assorted "Kinser's") the list goes on and on from that period of time, for both Sprintcars and Midgets. Great day's they were too, over here in Australia. Needless to say, everytime they'd tour Australia, Sprintcars or Midgets, the Americans would also tour New Zealand. It certaily makes sence, it would be like an Aussie or Kiwi Team Touring the States, and NOT touring Canada at the same time, know what I mean?
