I have found luck in nothing more than 30mm/s anything faster is no good. 230° first layer and 225° after that on all my TPU prints with 95A works well.

occationally jumps out for me too. Cost about €200 for a new set, as it has electronic lock, but you can sometimes buy spare parts from crashed cars where the sides are OK.

Wow, so many steps. The exact same result can be achieved with 1 sketch, 1 revolve (make bolt), 1 thread function, a revolve cut (make chamfer)... All done with a single sketch.
@Toffypops
@Toffypops 15 күн бұрын
I tested that now. Indeed it will look like mine. but adjusting the angle and height of the chamfer is more difficult when you use revolve. So if you want to make it like i show in part #2, it is not as easy as using my method. thanks for sharing though. :)
@nikolassmith1072
@nikolassmith1072 15 күн бұрын
I might be stupid but why not just use a revolve cut to achieve the same thing, then you can start the thread wherever on your chamfer and have easier control of the dimensions? My model looks the same as yours ( I think ).
@Toffypops

@@nikolassmith1072 does your model cut the thread into the chamfer?
@nikolassmith1072
@nikolassmith1072 15 күн бұрын
@@Toffypops I use a triangle shape to cut the chamfer, and it does 'start' the thread a little above center line(my version). I am pretty sure you can make it start anywhere by just moving the triangle up or down the thread though.
@Toffypops
@Toffypops 15 күн бұрын
@@nikolassmith1072 In my version you simply adjust the chamfer value to make sure the thread hits the bottom. No need to edit a sketch. Much easier than having to go in and modify the sketch to change the chamfer. Thanks for sharing, watching and commenting though. :D

Cut a hole the diameter and depth needed?
@Toffypops
@Toffypops 27 күн бұрын
That would require an offset, a sketch and a circle, and extrude-cut..so a few more steps, but yea, also a way to do it. :D My way is a bit faster though, but thnx for the suggestion. :)

I think the "bug" is actually in Autodesk because it puts the holes into a different solids in the stl. Unfortunately, STL does not really support this notion of assemblies except for non standard extensions. So there is no way to know if a solid in the STL denotes a hole or an object that overlays another object. Maybe you can export it as a 3mf or already split in Autodesk. Or you could try to make an assembly in Autodesk and load a step file. Maybe that improves the behaviour.
@Toffypops
@Toffypops Ай бұрын
it is not in autodesk since if you slice the stl without splitting it to parts i treats the holes as open spaces when sliced. When you split to parts it happens
@astorMorisson
@astorMorisson 27 күн бұрын
@@Toffypops But this is the problem of STLs. They don't contain information about volumes. They only contain surfaces made of triangles. With that option you tell the program if the STL contains a single volume with holes or multiple bodies without holes. You cannot have both at the same time with an STL.
@Satanika9
@Satanika9 Ай бұрын
so you split to parts, and the holes become parts; if you slice at this point the holes are filled parts, correct? what happens if you right click a part that should be a hole, and then >change type >negative part -- then slice? is there a difference from slicing the whole object not split into parts? note though that the hole(s) will only appear AFTER slicing, not in the prepare view, they should still be there though
@Satanika9
@Satanika9 Ай бұрын
ok i think i understand better now, so you cannot paint support blockers inside the model after splitting to parts? here are some other suggestions for workarounds -- enable supports on build plate only, and then either -- paint ON where you want the supports on the inner lip to be -- or since it seems your object is hollow at the bottom try tree supports. another solution is split to parts>change hole parts to negative part, then copy paste the hole parts, for these new hole parts change type>support blocker, select these blocker holes again and scale to e.g. 105%. a better description of the bug is probably that it seems impossible to paint supports/support blockers on negative parts, though it may be considered a missing feature, not a bug
@Toffypops
@Toffypops Ай бұрын
This is definately a bug. The main problem here is that since these parts are inside..setting supports to baseplate only will not work. It will still make supports. If you use the negative part way, it will not correctly print the walls, top and bottom of the holes. This is a bug since a slicer should ignore open holes all together so people can paint support blockers. I do not want to use % to increase the size of the holes as the magnets may get dragged out of the holes due to them being attracted to the nozzle. If the part is exported using the 3d print feature in fusion 360 it does not generate objects from empty spaces. But it will only print 1 object at a time So basically it is the split-to-parts feature that is bugged. It should ignore open spaces inside the model. The only alternative I found was to make cuts in fusion above and below holes and then select those parts as 100% infill and then import an stl of the holes and select them as negative modifiers...That would leaves walls intact but still not make it possible to paint support blockers. This problem when splitting to parts is so unneccessary it should be fixed. Many thanks for comments and feedback. 😊

@@Toffypops well... sorry if this gets complicated :) 1. in the exported file the 'holes' ARE objects/parts, meaning they have their own independent geometry, just inside geometry of another part 1b. possible bug/missing feature would be that the "hole" parts are not set to type "negative part" automatically 2. if you do split to parts, then select a hole and change type for that to negative part, then slice, are you saying that outside the hole there are no walls? i cannot replicate that, or i do not understand. i do not see a difference between a non-split object with holes and a split object with hole parts set to negative parts -- after slicing. 3. i did not suggest to increase the hole size -- the suggestion is to set hole parts as negative parts, then copy/paste them, and these new copies should be set to type "support blocker" - to make sure they block supports they may need to be increased a few% - this does not increase the hole size 4. there is a difference between split to parts and split to objects, all of this is only applicable when using split to parts 5. i do not understand the line "if the part is exported.." 6. if you have a negative part inside another part and have supports on baseplate only, there should be NO supports inside the negative part. are you saying there are?
@Toffypops
@Toffypops Ай бұрын
if you export a part to an stl-file and then bring it into orca and split it to parts, each part keep their relative places in the geometry. If you split to objects, everything is places on the buildplate which is not what you would want. I understand the split to part makes objects out of empty spaces, but this does not happen when i use the 3D PRINT feature in Fusion 360, then the object comes out with holes correctly. Although you cannot print several holes at the same time. I tried to set the holes as objects to negative parts, and all i end up with is infill missing the objects without walls going around it. And if you set supports on baseplate only, it will still put supports on objects where they have overhanging walls inside another object. It does not work for open spaces inside the model itself. I actually did not see that you had an "add support blocker" feature. Still learning . That might work as you say if you expand it to "paint" the support areas. Thnx for commenting. :)

@@Toffypops this would be easier if i could post an image, but let me try to describe the settings as precisely as possible 1. under global>support, "enable support" should have a filled green box with checkmark; "on build plate only" should have a filled green box/checkmark; near the bottom under advanced "don't support bridges" should have a filled green box/checkmark 2. hole parts in the split object should be set to type "negative part", not modifier or anything else. negative parts have a small green circle with a minus symbol to the left of their name 3. under global>quality>overhangs "make overhangs printable" should NOT be checked, it should just be a white empty box if you slice with these settings exactly, you should NOT be getting any supports inside the holes/negative parts, but hopefully there should be walls

Easier to create as a solid... A single sketch and a revolve. Or if it's not a circular shape use sweep.
@Toffypops
@Toffypops Ай бұрын
Not easier to create as a solid. But sometimes the surfaces are out of alignment and not as easy to make a perfectly fitting sketch of. A sweep would require a specially made guideline in 3D space to function properly. Thnx for the comment. :)

I would do an arc that is concentric with your outer projected arc, with coincident constraints between ends of the arc and lines you have. Result is identical in this case, but I have ptsd from offsets lines when they turn out too short =)
@Toffypops
@Toffypops 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the visit. In my case as long as you always reference the exact distance between the lines and use it as the offset value, it offsets cocentric to the same lines with exact lenght, and make sure it is constrained. :) Many ways to do things.

It looks so horrible the wire method compared to using a 3D pen. Test with a 3D pen and TPU, you will be surprised. The nozzle of the Pen is hot, so you partially melt the current plastic with the one from the pen, causing really good adhesion!.

I have spent 4 days trying to do exactly what you have done. An editable solid to modify and then 3D print with Prusa slicer and Prusa MK3 S printer. If the model is not correct in software there is no sense running the print or cutting out parts. I have a CNC router (my build), small CNC milling machine (my build), small laser, printer and a plasma cutter that needs to be completed (my build). Fusion ( paid version ) is what I use for all designs for all running machines. Stl's are the most time consuming and frustrating to modify from downloaded designs. Thanks for pointing me to a to a better way for manipulating Stl's. Looking forward to more of your videos. 👍👍
