This is all dependent on the RF environment. I can get a better signal with 2.4 GHz. I can get better speeds with less signal on 5Ghz. Also using 5Ghz puts it in a less crowded RF space.

Hey, great video and clean setup! Can you share what fuse did you put on the starter positive wire? I can't find this info anywhere.
@drew72244 ай бұрын
I do not have a fuse between the starter battery positive terminal and the starter itself. It is only active when the relay is closed (pressing the starter button) which is on it's own fuse. The fuse you see in the video marked 'starter' is for the trickle charger.
@patpaluch98424 ай бұрын
Thanks. For anyone else interested for safety reasons I put a fuse on the positive terminal and I used 40A. I started with 20A and it worked but would get burnt if motor needed to crank longer than a second, I tried 30 and that allowed to crank for longer but still burnt so I settled for 40A and it’s perfect and allows to crank over and over but if there ever is a short on the motor it will burn out and prevent electrical fire.

İ Smoke the selenoid relay twice this connections??
@drew72244 ай бұрын
If you are smoking your solenoid with this setup you either have it wired wrong or do not have a proper sized fuse on your relay.

On newer versions of Unifi Protect (specifically 2.7.34) the password to the camera is now called a recovery code. It can be found under settings > general > other configurations > recovery code. Another tip is to check the voltage on the G4 Doorbell. In Unifi Protect select Unifi Devices > Select the G4 camera > In the overview tab, it will list voltage. If it is 16V or lower you need to upgrade your transformer. I use a 24V transformer to account for any voltage fluctuations when the doorbell is pressed and it has been rock solid. Find it here: amzn.to/3MPaGPs

Curious how long you can go between charges on the starter battery?
@drew7224 Жыл бұрын
I have not pushed it to the limits. I think the most I have gone is 2 or 3 weeks of weekend trail rides. I typically plug in a trickle charger after every ride. I have done hard core all day races with 50+ starts in a day with no problems.
@ShawnBlais Жыл бұрын
@@drew7224 I've since installed one myself . I'd say I get 6-8hrs of riding, probably 100+ starts? That's in the winter, when we stop a lot more, probably in the summer, closer to 15hrs+? One of the best mods I ever made, thx for the knowledge! I ended up using 1 full size AG battery + the 4 cell, the rubber strap can wrap around both, with the smaller one on the outside of the box. Holds it nice and tight. I use the fullsize as the secondary.

Will this mod not burn accessory wire for 24 volts momentary
@drew72242 жыл бұрын
The way I have it wired, the 24V is direct from relay to starter. There is only 24v when the starter button is pressed. There should not be any accessories that get power only when the starter button is pressed.

Probably does not apply to this but I thought I'd share anyways. My doorbell had been working great for a year connected via 5ghz. One day out of the blue started showing disconnects every 2 to 5 minutes then it would go for days without disconnecting. I noticed that it would happen late at night into early morning. I decided to disconnect so I can reset it when I big gecko jumped out from inside, it had been nesting in there causing shorts on the camera. Needless to say I made sure to cover every single opening to precent this from happening again. Just wanted to share this in case this is the issue for other folks, make sure it is sealed properly. I have very uneven bricks so I had to get creative to cover up holes.

Were there a lot of issues with the E start before you did this? I’m thinking about picking one of these up, one with like 100 hours but I def want something with reliable E start so if that’s an issue on these I may stay with a KTM/Husqvarna
@nils84852 жыл бұрын
Yep, there are a lot of issues, I also had to fight with it but there are multiple fixing options out there these days and if you fixed it you will be a happy owner of a bike which is so much better than the KTM stuff. You will be blown away by the suspension and if you give it to an expert you can bring it to a level of what WP 3000$ stuff might not even keep up with. Those bikes are definitely an upgrade.

I agree with Nils. I haven't heard of a 2018-2019 GasGas that didn't have starter issues. The good news is there are very well documented fixes and they work well. For the price of this bike you cannot get a better one. I love everything about this bike.

I'm thinking about doing this to my bike. Currently have the 410 starter, but whenever it doesn't start within a couple of turns, then it won't go with the e Start at all. One addition that could be made is to wire the main battery to the starter battery with a couple of diodes - that way it'll charge, but still be isolated the other way around.
@drew72242 жыл бұрын
I thought about doing something like this but I just don't have the electrical knowledge to go through with it. With my setup, I trickle charge once a month or so riding every weekend. That is doable for me.
@foil6662 жыл бұрын
@@drew7224 I ended up going to easier route as well - since mine already had a second ground wire to the regular battery, I just used that to jump the starter battery to the relay. Tried a cheap LCA at first in the same location as yours, but lithium is definitely the way to go. All the starting current needs to be grounded through the main battery and a small LCA has way too much internal resistance. One thing that can happen is that the relay might stick with prolonged use. Mine got stuck while I was testing the system and came back to life with some love taps. I've replaced it as well (china 10€ special).
