For anyone running these year models or even the 2008 on model (I have the 2008 Tribeca), you CAN do it this way, but you really should remove the complete housing because of the multiple wires that can get hung up. There weren't instructions online how to do that, so here goes: remove the TWO plastic clips to the splash shield area below the fog light using a small flat head screwdriver to pry the pins (this will allow the plastic "flap" to drop without removing the whole engine splash shield). Two 10mm bolts ALMOST release the housing; this is where I am adding info. On top is a confusing grey tab that is holding it from popping out. Do not try to lift the tab, it won't do anything. Instead, pry the plastic above the tab where it's catching using a very skinny small flat head screwdriver, and then go to the front of the housing and insert that same screwdriver above the housing in line with that clip. Pry up on the screwdriver with one hand, push the housing towards the front bumper and it will release. Hope this helps someone else. Excellent video!

I’m about to have to try this myself. I have a 2003 Z4 and the passenger door is stuck shut. Neither door handle works, when you go to unlock it the actuator pops the lock rod up and down 3 times but doesn’t unlock. I’ve got the door card off and have been trying manipulating the cables and levers every other way before resorting to this…but nothing has worked so far. All the cables are fine and manipulate the actuator in what appears to be a full range of motion (checked this via borescope).

Might have to get it smoke tested to make sure the lines connected properly and there's no broken lines in the engine. There are other ways to test, but can be dangerous if not done properly, by spraying starter fluid around the vacuum lines, but that is done at your own risk if you don't want to pay to have it smoke tested. Also check the gas cap as the seal and spring can go bad. Sorry I can't help with more. It would be just guessing after and would need hands on to find it.

Is there a way to clear the CEL without the switch? The switch in my Samurai is disconnected. The CEL light is on but flashes twice every so often at a specific interval when it is running.
@SyntheticVisionsAutomotive5 ай бұрын
It's there a way to reconnect the switch? Usually if you disconnect a battery for 30 minutes to 60 can do it. Sometimes disconnecting both leads with no power going through them and touching them together for about a minute does what some call a soft reset. Always use caution when doing that process. If you can find a salvage yard and get the whole connector and switch. Might be able to find it on Google somewhere.

Very useful video. As stated in the video, you can take the part off without unclipping the tube or the electrical connection. This makes it easier to fiddle with both connections. The hint about using the small screwdriver to push the safety lock worked for me. You can/should attach the tube before installing the part (as stated in the video).

I was getting a lean code on my XC40, and i noticed that when car was hot, it would not hold an idle.... AT a red light, it would surge slowly from 1000 RPM up to about 1500m, drop back down suddenly, and then build back up again over and over... I changed rear O2 sensor and that code went away, however, im still getting an engine light, and this idle up and down... Any thoughts?
@SyntheticVisionsAutomotive6 ай бұрын
Best thing is to see what code might be there with a good scanner. Could be multiple things and would mainly be guessing. Some cars vacuum leaks can cause it, while other might be tps, iac, or any extra sensors or solenoids. See if it goes away when you remove the oil cap, but be careful as oil can spray out a little. Also make sure the charging system and battery are good.

They choose to go out. We don't keep them out there! That flight enclosure is attached to the house and we open the window. They'll usually fly out in the morning to do their bathroom duties and fly back in. When they see it snowing they knock on the window to go out so they can plow through it and try to bring it back in. They usually will be back in within a minute or 2. We know they're tropical, but with many other tropical species they're curious about snow and want to investigate. It's possible. It's one of few things that can do it. If you take the belts off that can also let you know if it's an accessory or pulley as well. Just don't leave it running for too long. I'm sure if you look for valve cover gasket replacement for this vehicle on here you'll find it. Pretty much take the ignition coils off and some clips then the rest is just the bolts. Let me know what you find so things can be documented and help others. If you can try to record your process and upload! Every video, even if the same vehicle can always help someone.
