This be is not an easy job to do. May I suggest using some black Gorilla duct tape attached to the back side making tab straps to use to pull back and down on the headliner. Also make sure to leave the back hanging down some to provide some play and movement. Also using some small vacuum hose pressed into the back edge of the clip with some fishing line installed to pull it out once installed. The duct tape can be trimmed off after installation. Hope this helps the next installer. Also: another solution would be to lift the tab with a screwdriver and take a soldering iron to just slightly melt the tab and form the leading edge upward just a little.

Those Altman latches, The Striker Pins shouldnt be loose... That latch striker design is used on millions of different cars... non of them are loose... Curious they call them easy latches... They should call them Difficult, Design Flaw, Missing Pieces Latches... For 400 bux, tax, shipped, they should install themselves, once you cut up a door, there is no going back to original latches which are half as much price as new repops... Your video is extfemely well done with exception to wondering if your doors constantly ratling or poping open due to loose Striker Pins...???

My clips started breaking off, as well. I decided to take them all off and drill small hole through the ABS and into the metal lip all around the edges and put interior style push pins in to hold it in place. Please note : I have NOT attempted that just yet, but it does seem like a viable option to trying to work with those clips. They are very frustrating!
@FadedPaintGarage2 ай бұрын
If you go that route, let me know how that works out! I've also heard of people trimming it down so that it fits in the original rubber strip that held the cardboard headliner in. I would be too nervous to try that as once it's cut, it won't grow back. Since the headliner is ABS, you might be able to use ABS glue and put the tabs back on, I believe that type of glue actually melts the plastic together as it cures.

The hydrolic brake line flare tool is about 60 dollars on line,,They are better than this set up because they are mobile,,You can literally bring it under the car with you,,You don't need any vice or bench,,And the brake lines can be done in situ,,They also make really good flares,,

That’s so true one thing leads to another I had an oil leak and a bad thermostat on my Ford 8N tractor and when I got the hood off I wiggled the fan blades and it wasn’t too bad but I thought it would suck doing it in winter so I replaced it and then I realized that the radiator hoses need changing and I put a temperature gauge on and a lower radiator hose heater on and then I put the hood back on and so I remembered it needs a new sediment bowl and so I finally started it up and I see and hear now that the manifold or the gaskets or both need replacing and I finally got a proofmeter and cable for it and I should have done the sector seals on the steering box but I am trying STP oil treatment in the steering hopefully it stays in there so far it is but I need that tractor out of the garage and working so now you know how I spent my spring and my money 😀🇨🇦

Hows the firewall rigidity now after a few years of use? I was considering buying a firewall patch panel to cut and put some bends like you did to give it more rigidity.
@FadedPaintGarage5 ай бұрын
No issues so far, still super firm. I would highly recommend reinforcing the firewall, this is not something you want to fail under a hard emergency stop.

Thats a m29c you can see the float tank mounting holes along the front. Meaning that is a 44 or 45 model. Also the fender flares to cover the 20" tracks identifies it as a later model. To bad they cut all the holes in the front for the radiator.

Those early subaru's had solid lifters in them, they were supposed to get the valve lash adjusted every 30k miles. I'm sure it's in need of that. Btw 60k miles and 40 mpg my butt.

All of the ones that I have started in my life has a pull rope. No electric start. That thing had to be just right to take off. We would pull the magneto off and dry it out. They always had moisture in them. Clean the points with some emory clothe. Pull it once it would pop. Second pull it would start. Pain in the ass but it worked 😮

I sometimes spritz some carb cleaner into the intake and it'll run a little.
@FadedPaintGarage8 ай бұрын
I'm sure using carb cleaner in very very small amounts is probably ok, but it's basically the same as straight gasing which can do serious harm as it washes out the lubrication. Like starting your car engine with out oil in the crank case.
