Oh one other question. AFTER Z-offset is determined and set, shouldn’t a ABL be run for funky beds?
@bruceyoung134310 сағат бұрын
I’ve installed a cr touch a while ago and never understood z-offset enough. Every time I would start a print, I would manually raising and lowering nozzle on the fly. Hopefully now with the knowledge I’ve learned here, that will be a thing of the past. Thank You 🙏

You really must understand why you want to take pictures of strangers. For example, if a photographer takes a picture of a cute girl and someone drives by and notices you taking a picture the driver then takes action yelling at you for being a pervert will have a negative affect on that desire😂😂 it happened to me. The driver drove up on the curb to block me, then got out of her car to yell at me, then ran across the street to inform the girl, al the while yelling pervert at me.😮

I have been searching and searching and searching for someone to explain in true beginner's terminology how to set the sed-offset. FINALLY someone who speaks a beginners language? I can't thank you enough. If you held classes i would attend. I have one question do you have a video explaining the g-code. I downloaded Ultimaker CURA because that is what someone said was good. Now not so sure. If I need to download OctoPrint I will. Thank you.

Hello...thank you for the positive comment. It's appreciated. I don't have a video explaining g-code but I may work on one in the future. Good luck with your 3D printing adventure. RG

The only thing I'd do differently from the sketch to hole through is to pocket it and tick *symmetric to plane* and then hit *through all* . This pockets in both directions and you don't have to move the sketch off the plane.

Hi, it's a very useful video for some one to calibrate and locate the pictures within the enclosure box. However your technic to sketch is very poor, sorry to tell you about it... B-Splines are absolutely avoidable in this "squared" design. Anyhow, thanks for sharing your ideas.
@CreatewithTechАй бұрын
Please explain why B Splines should be avoided in a "squared" design. Not sure I understand the reasoning. Thanks. RG
@LFANS2001Ай бұрын
@@CreatewithTech Hi, as per your sketch @ 13:38 the aiming point is to raise 2 stands off from the inner bottom wall of the enclosure box in order to to attach the stepper motor. Of course there are many ways to achieve our goals when using FreeCAD but the simpler the sketches are and less clicks we use the better. That's why I told you B-Splines should be avoided. How many clicks to draw the spline have you done? Comparing to 2 arcs + 1 circles + 2 lines it's easy to figure out the best solution ( per side), don't you agree? And B-splines have a very dodgy behaviour ... Only for organic shaped objects must be used. You own a calipers to get the real mesures of the parts so the OD (outer diameter) of the motor is needed and also the distance between the outer points of the lugs. The screw dimension to be used you already know. I think an elongated kinda "D" shaped pillars are the "squared or machine forms" proper design . I'll construct that part of the model and will give you access to it just to kill your curiosity. Rgds

Thanks for the video. Did you notice any degradation in GPU/CPU performance when employing this solution?

Not at all. In my opinion this is a perfect solution for a passthrough and works really well. There is no stuttering or reduced frames unlike Reality Mixer which needs Steam VR.

You may be able to use the Polar or Linear Pattern tool to do what you're describing. You'll find it in the Part Design bench. RG

You make easy - Hard. 1. Create Sketch plane in center of cylinder. As you did. 2. Make Hole/Circle in new center plane. As you did. 3. Dimension and constrain circle location. As you did. 2. Hide the cylinder. Not as you did. 3. Extrude the hole/circle in direction you want the HOLE in the Cylinder. Not as you did. 4. Use applicable Cut tool/feature. Not as you did. 5. Done! Done! You are correct there are so many (hard) ways to do the same thing. That's what is good about choices and options. Work as hard or easy as you'd like. LOL.

Can you make an STL into a sketch? Once I make the mesh to a solid, then refine the image, I end up with a nice solid, but I can't figure out how to make it so that I can constraint the lines to add the dimensions and end up with a working sketch. This way I can put the dimensions into a spreadsheet and make the part parametric. Can you help?
@CreatewithTech2 ай бұрын
Hi @tonyp4894...as far as I know this can't be done. The only way you'd be able to get a sketch is by bringing the STL into FreeCAD and tracing it. Depending on the model this can be a bit of a task, but not impossible. But generating a parametric sketch out of an STL isn't really possible as far as I know. That would be quite an amazing feature though. RG
