I bought mine used. I like it, except for the felt fell off in the hot summer, it leaks water through the corners and is frozen during winter.

Is it because it's such a small amount of gas that you don't need venting in that bottle? Just curious would like to keep some spare gas on my bt200x
@TregsTravelsКүн бұрын
Yeah and you don't fill the bottle all the way up so there's room for the gas to expand if it heats up. I've ran this all over in the hot dessert and haven't had any issues 👍

Well done. Just the info I was looking for after my decision to do truck camping. Keep it simple. Question. Any thoughts on the Joytutus tent on Amazon?
@TregsTravels6 күн бұрын
Thank you! I think it's a nice tent...it has a few downfalls in my opinion. Setup time is about 10 minutes. If you're camping and need to run into town that's a lot of setup and take down...you also have to have everything out of the bed of the truck to set it up. With the softopper I like to have everything all setup and ready to drive without a lot of moving things around and setting up

A twin size mattress, couple coolers, and a snack bag under a hard camper shell and I roll. Dont mind sleeping in the reclining seats of my extended cab if I want a little heat or air. Great for 2 or 3 day road trips to beach towns on Michigan. Easy to find free parking with a view.

Why not get rid of the cot? It lets cold air sap your warmth from underneath. If you're not using a thermarest mat or something like it you are losing most your heat to the cot. But that foam floor should have a decent R value.
@TregsTravels11 күн бұрын
You're totally right, in the summertime the cold air under the cot is great. I do have an insulated sleeping pad that I use directly on the floor in the winter sometimes...the foam floor is the real secret though and saves your knees!

You're welcome! In my opinion it just depends on how much you're moving around...if you're gonna camp for a couple days and not move your truck then the DAC tent definitely gives you more room but if you're moving spots every day or driving your truck the topper tent is a ton more convenient

I’m debating between softopper, bestop, and outlander by agricover. What are the major differences between your two toppers? Next, why are either of yours better than outlander?
@TregsTravels2 ай бұрын
Hey great question! I'm not affiliated with any of the company's but I can tell you why I chose the softopper. I heard rumors that the side flaps on the other toppers wouldn't stay closed and the softopper had snaps down the sides so that was the main reason for me. I also liked that with softopper I could order individual replacement parts. I haven't had any issues with my topper
