Love it. I've got 2 of these bikes set up similar. I put the 60 tooth sprocket on the back that's been awesome for climbing. Next step for me is front brakes, gotta be able to stop on the other side of the hill once you climb it! Good content.

I just put a 60 tooth and a mikuni carb on the bike with the 224, it climbs everything now! How are you going to setup the front brake? We went for a pretty long ride up a steep mountain about a month ago, by the time we got back down the disc brake wasn't stopping anything lol

@TregsTravels GPS is supposed to have a kit pretty soon for it. Yeah, gets sketchy when the brake ain't doing it. Do you get any kind of engine braking from the torque converter, or does it just freewheel like with the clutch? I've still gotta clutch on mine.

My first bike is the bt200x and I got a megamoto 212 to be more of a workhorse and loaner bike while I build up the bt200x. The bt200x just handles and rides so much more confidently than the megamoto.

@TregsTravels I've been through all the new big tire bikes including the Trailmaster. I made up my mind that if you need anything more than a bt200x, one should probably get a dirtbike.
@fatbuddycat

@quadriderkyle the mm212 has great brakes and a good neck but it comes at too many expenses elsewhere. Where the BT200X comes up short in brakes it makes up for in simplicity and ergonomics.

@@fatbuddycat I was actually hoping to steal the front brake from the mm212 for my bt200x, but there is no way to make it work without cutting the necks off of both frames, which I considered briefly.

Its not the governor you feel at top end. Its the valve float if you did the zip tie right. 18lb valve springs will open up more rpm. Your ready for it with your flywheel already installed. Id call those stage 1 or 1.5 with the flywheel and stock camshaft, rod, valves, head, stock size carb etc.

Nice. But the early belt shifts would drive me crazy. The sweet setup for off road Coleman 200's with a torque converter is a 60 tooth sprocket and a yellow spring for the driven in the tightest hole.

@TregsTravels Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I'll try this, changing out the sprocket is an easy change!
@Deucealive75
@Deucealive75 Жыл бұрын
@@TregsTravels Welcome. The idea is to get higher RPM to take advantage of the power mods we add to these engines. The yellow spring is especially useful to get a later belt shift during full throttle acceleration. I found that the red spring in the tightest hole is not bad with my gearing. Look at some videos of guys adjusting or replacing the driven spring if you want to learn more. I really like 9/60 tooth gearing with a torque converter on my Coleman. It worked really well with a mild built 196. It's a little too much with the 224 because I have to be careful with the throttle and seating position. Another thing about the 60 tooth is that you shouldn't lose any top speed. You may gain a few mph.

One thing i have learned in the one year after a partial governor bypass is that if you dont do all of that stage kit stuff the stock flywheel is more than fine! I use my coleman ct200u-ex as daily rider for store runs and stuff but i dont need to keep up with traffic. 25-26mph is more than enough for me! Good stuuf and info in this vid just not for me.

Yes you nailed it as this totally reminded me of a yellow Tote-Gote I owned back in the early 1980’s as a kid. Although I’d be lucky if I got the thing to go anywhere north of maybe 10mph. All torque no speed beast! Walmart has a Coleman BT200X-G 196 cc for $750! Also with the understanding that terrain & payload will dictate how far one can travel on maybe a gallon of gas how far ya think you can go and back on one of these? With that said have you considered upgrading to a larger fuel tank? ✌🏽
@TregsTravels
@TregsTravels 7 ай бұрын
Yeah! I love the classic tote goats. I was trying to capture that feeling of those older gotes with a few modern touches. I've been actually surprised at how good these things have done on full mileage. We've gone for all day rides and the tank was barely halfway empty by the time we got back. I always carry that 750ml fuel bottle under the rear fender so I've never worried about running out of gas!

@@TregsTravels You’ve kickstarted (pardon the pun) my brain in a different direction totally then where I was at when my wife mentioned she wanted a motorcycle. I own a couple of H-D motorcycles, but since my wife is only 4’10” & has never ridden, I’ve been very limited on what to possibly get her. Plus the fact that’s she’s already crashed her E-Bike into a barbed wire fence the first day she rode it I worry about her on a busy street or freeway. Heck I worry about the public as well! 😳🥴😜✌🏽 Motorcycles like these check off many boxes. Inexpensive in relation to others & simple to operate/maintain. Not to mention if she does go down she’s less likely to injure herself to bad. I know each state is different but without getting to far in the weeds on certain laws, etc…. do you ever get any pushback from camp hosts, rangers or LEO’s regarding this motor bike anywhere you’ve ridden? Awesome! Congrats on the new bike! The good thing is most of the repairs on these bikes are really simple 👍🏼 I keep the wrench kit that came with the bike in there, I think that's metric sizes 8-18 if I'm not mistaken. Then a Phillips head screwdriver. Zip ties are always good to have! Lately I've learned to keep a few extra key bolts and nuts in there...I have used loctite on most everything but occasionally something will rattle off. Electrical tape and a set up pliers too. I think that's most of what I carry!

I have owned this bike for years. Repairs have been pretty minor and minimal. 2 master links. One to the jack shaft and crank. The other to the sprocket. The gas cap is picky. Watch out or you'll lose it going down the road. My chain tensor on the jack shaft came loose. But I caught it in time. I do ride mine hard. Pop wheelies. Skid. Donuts. So on. The tires are very soft. They won't last on pavement for long. It's made for off road. My brothers have these bikes as well. One, his exhaust broke completely off. And the other. Myself included. Have had a few sticks jammed up in the chain and sprocket. Forcing the rear tire to a skid. Bending the chain and sprocket on a couple occasions. Other than that. Zip ties for the brake. It starts every time. It's been very reliable. We tend to ride hard. So our issues might not be the same as yours.

It's definitely a run around! I bought one used on Facebook that didn't have a title either. I had to go to the DMV and submit a form with pictures of the bike for a "lost title" that process took about 90 days then they issued me a title and I was able to get it registered as an OHV. A pain for sure! New bikes bought from Coleman are a lot easier to register I've learned. If you take them up to Idaho you can just buy an out of state OHV sticker without a title. I've got pretty much the same mods for mine. I added mud flaps to the rear of both fenders that SIGNIFIGANTLLY helps with mud, water and dew off grass. i got an 212 with a starter, mounted an ammo can to the side for tools and the M12 battery that runs the starter..and of course neon underglow!

got a baja carbon ive been working on, shes getting a predator 224 with 15.5:1 compression and e85. that all said im gonna push the charging flywheel on it as ive had governor deleted engines work fine even after years of running them hard. itll be rev limited to 6k to prevent issues and in case its getting the heavy duty housing. I've got a similar setup on a manco dingo and itll hit 57mph however that thing is terrifying at that speed, and to think im building this motor to be even meaner

It's my golf cart for getting around my property. I leave mine stock and believe in grease so been with me years. Want a better and smoother take off? use some oil in centrifugal clutch. will slip at first but you will see ( you will like) and again been doing this for years. I run the crap out it almost every day. I don't put a basket on back so when riding hard for fun I can separate in a wipeout lol. I have basket on the front where headlight was. By the way I am 200 LBS. Yea I'm a fatass with chicken legs. I have replaced the jackshaft sprocket because even oil couldn't save that cheap made thing and upgraded. nothing special. OIL and GREASE! the wheel bearings etc doesn't come with a good grease packing so make sure you get grease in those . Get grease in all bearings. The plastic cover over the bearings pops out and back in easily. Mine is the CT200 and wrecked many times. Its tough. The muffler sticking out would end up being ripped off mine so again stayed stock.

After market parts for colemans have been used for years. Coming out of China mostly. I don't think them going bankrupt would have bothered the part market?

Top speed is great if you're racing. But, If you're riding off-road or even in traffic, acceleration is way more fun.

Curious as to why you didn't remove the governor when you replacer the flywheel on the stock 196?
@TregsTravels
@TregsTravels Жыл бұрын
I wasn't too worried about top speed. I mainly trail ride and these things are perfect for that! I actually just put a nibbi carb on there so I bypassed the governor completely

Torque converter, non-epa carb, billet flywheel, exhaust, governor bypass 👍 not too bad to get to 45mph! I'm going to do a build series on my brother's bikes so stay tuned!

Did you have to remove the emissions box to get the torque converter to fit? Also, did you use the same bolts that came with the torque converter kit? Thanks
@TregsTravels
@TregsTravels 5 ай бұрын
Yes on the predator 224cc you have to remove the emissions box, basically just cut the wires and remove it. You need different bolts for the predator because it is standard sizing instead of metric. You need 5/16-24 to mount everything for the TC. OMBwarehouse sales a predator TC mounting bolt set if that's easier!
