I had that movie on VHS too. It was in the oversized plastic clamshell case that many early VHS releases in video rental stores had. I got my copy from a video store back around 2005. The place was on it's last legs so I took my recently ex girlfriend's membership and loaded up to the max limit. One scene that I remember was Archie's sister was having a shitfit screaming at him as she stood naked full on bush displayed. And she noticed her father leering at her.

I agree with your review, sometimes movies are made to be serious but turn out funny, the first Evil Dead in my opinion was like that, but Evil Dead 2 they tried too hard to make it funny which makes it less authentic as a horror film.

You left out the usual Schlockmeister scream opening. According to Wiki on this movie, original director fell off the bell tower and was killed and the rest of the movie was directed by some other guy. Well, the women looked good.

The football field scenes were filmed at The Brentwood School, in Los Angeles. That's a high-school. The topless scene - filmed during business hours - was not in the permission granted the film crew. The headmaster was livid.

As an aviation professional (FAA Licensed Aircraft Dispatcher) they did a decent job on the technical advising for the film. The aircraft Captain Hagan flew was a Douglas DC8-10 series which was one of the first jet airliners that went into service in late 1959 and were in service with such airlines as United until the late 1970’s. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_DC-8#:~:text=The%20first%20DC%2D8%20was,Air%20Lines%20on%20September%2018.

I would argue and rather easily that evil dead 2 is the best or the entire series. It blends it all perfectly horror with some comedy elements makes it perfect to watch on a theater with a crowd. Has better practical effects than the first one.

It had a "Rear Window" feel to it as well. The killer in the backseat was such a "Halloween" rip off but for a low budget slasher I enjoyed this movie.

Thanks for this review. I saw this show multiple times as a kid, and it has haunted me ever since. I finally found out the name of it after entering the chilling quote from the dead boy’s mom into an AI app. This production is obviously cheap and grainy with only passable acting, but as you say it nevertheless has a creepy and foreboding vibe. I appreciate your covering it!
