Thanks for posting these videos! Appreciate it since there isn't much news out there on the progress of this project

Yes, there's not much of anything. I read the local press, watch the city of Menifee council and planning meetings, to no avail. I did call the developer about a year ago and he was super nice, friendly, and answered my questions for about 30-40 minutes even though he knew I was just a local neighbor being nosy. I figure most people dont have the time, or inclination to dig that much, so I try to share what I've learned while doing the voiceovers. And of course, I live extremely close so I kinda get a view of what's going on to share those as well.

Sorry for messaging you late. I had someone pop into my lobby and say "JOHNNY!" and then leave. It sounded just like you but then I realized you were playing DMZ. Dude, your tactical sprint assist movement setting adjust video made a huge difference in my gameplay. I should have streamed but I really didn't want to track chat while playing, but I had some killer games. 27 and 7, 3.0-7.0 KD runs... crazy

When do you think the first subdivision may start selling homes? I'm thinking I'll be ready to buy in 18-24 months. Hoping I won't be too late to snag one of the 1051 expected lots
@SchubertTech19 күн бұрын
I'm totally guessing, but you're probably in the right ballpark. The house itself should take 3-4 months to build. That leaves 14-21 months for the roads to be put in, models built, permits, etc. I think originally they were expecting to start closing houses about 2 years after getting to where they are now, but then COVID put the brakes on a lot.

I've been in your neck of the woods lately, Coronado site (Murietta & Thornton,) Belle Terre (Washington & Fields) and I have a new one this week off of Leon Rd & Domengion Pkwy (Leon Ridge)
@SchubertTech21 күн бұрын
Any problems with overheating? I haven't flown in weeks after my Avata 2 threw an "Aircraft overtemp" alarm just flying my backyard. I want to do this project as they've paved the road thru, and are now laying all the sewer lines. Super interesting things, IMHO. However, with it being 100 degrees by 1-2PM it's just been too risky to me.

@SchubertTech21 күн бұрын
Yes, you're not far at all. I'm just on the other side of the 215 from your Coronado site. Leon Ridge is just a couple miles south. Belle Terre looks super nice and I know that's the type of project they're trying to get in this area. THey've been trying to get a nice mix of upper end neighborhoods, while also having affordable housing options at the other end. City Council meetings are interesting as they try to meet state guidelines with practical limitations. For example, if you make permits, fees, and environmental surveys add huge margins to a project, no builder will take on the low income housing project, as it would not make money.

Well, you're in a bit of luck. The prices here seem to be flattening a bit while interest rates are higher than the past. When the rates were low, KB Homes was increasing prices about $1500 a week..... every week. So your house would be $40-50k more in a year if you waited. Now it seems like new home prices are inching up about 1/2 that rate, when I look at new homes in supply around Menifee, over the last 12-18 months.

Can I run my fiber straight from the ont to ethernet adapter straight to my tp link network switch?
@SchubertTech3 ай бұрын
No, you will need a router. A switch only transports traffic from one port to another port. If you are connecting multiple hosts (computers, game console, camera, smart phones, etc), you need something that assigns an IP address to each of those hosts. This is what a router (via the DHCP protocol) will do for you. This is also why only use ONE router connected to your fiber converter, but if you need more ports than your router has, THEN use a switch. For example, my entertainment center in my living room and bedroom each have 3 hosts (Xbox, Smart TV and AppleTV), so that's 6 ports right there. I have only 4 on my router. So I run a single run from each port, to four rooms (for me 3 bedrooms, 1 living room), and then put a switch in each of those 4 locations. So I have 28 ports (4 X 8 port gigabit switches: 1 port goes to router/ 7 ports available for network devices). Without a router, every device assigns itself an IP. Now, if you're really motivated you could go to every device and hard-configure them to an IP address within a single network (e.g. 192.168.1.x) but this is a really bad idea for network security reasons. Your router also acts as a firewall between your internal network and the outside internet using NAT and other things.

So I logged in to the new PVS6 wifi (I made sure I had the correct one) and then I go to the website but it gives me the "403 Forbidden" page on my iphone. I tried Chrome and Safari with same results. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for making this video.
@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
403 forbidden is normally the error when you haven't logged in correctly (username, password). I'd go back and rewatch the part where you use the markings on your PVS6 to A) make sure you're logging into YOUR solar system (e.g. you're in a home with other neighbors who also have a PVS6) and then B) use the Serial number to figure out YOUR password (this keeps your neighbor out of your system). The logic being, they won't have access to your SN to guess the password.
@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
To be more specific, do the last 3 digits of your WIFI network name and the last 3 of your Seriel Number match? If not, you're on the wrong PVS6. If so, go to @04:26 in the video and make sure the password is entered correctly.

Thanks for this. I tried to swap out the frontier router provided at the inside end of the feed coax but it didn't recognize the new one. I didn't know about rebooting the fiber to coax converter. I had my much faster 3rd party routers hooked up via network cable from the frontier router device's ports, and that works but there is no reason to keep the Frontier device if your solution works. A big thumbs up! By the way, I speed tested my Reyee AX6000 wifi 6 router in that setup and it is delivering the full 500Mbps up and down wirelessly on my 500 plan.
@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
Awesome. Yes, if you're running the newer Wifi protocol (WIFI 6 or higher) you can hit the 500M up and down. The drawback might be your home devices might still be older (e.g. I have an Apple TV that ironically will hit it Wifi, but when I switch it over to ethernet/wired it's a 100M cap, because it's a 100M network card) for wifi or the network wired interface.

@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
Yes, I did. I'm the type of person who reads the directions before I even pull anything out of the box. And, I'll likely read it more than once if there's any sort of complexity. I'm sensing your implication is the instructions were not referenced or followed. Neither is the case.

I just recieved mine today and its shit! It wasnts to fly on its own! I did countless collaborations and still just wants to go everywhere.
@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
That was my experience. As you can see I got some "shade" from people saying "You didn't calibrate," "You didn't wait for GPS," and my personal favorite, "You're not a good drone pilot." However, I fly DJI mini 2, Air2, FPV, and home built FPVs just fine. You tell them to pitch, they pitch. You tell it to ascend, it ascends. This Vivitar would pick and choose what commands to do (or not) and then do it in erratic amounts. Sorry to hear your experience was the same as mine. I swapped out the props after the first incident, made sure the props were now good (power up, ascend to 2 feet, land) and then never flew it again.

Is there any downside to converting the fiber to coax and using a MoCa adapter?
@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
Capacity is the main downside. Fiber is going to have nearly zero interference, low loss and higher speeds. Is there a specific reason for coax?
@arao8884 ай бұрын
@@SchubertTech I think majority of residential fiber installs convert to coax since homes already have coax. I guess its easier and more convenient for the installers too.
@SchubertTech4 ай бұрын
@@arao888 I guess you could, but I've been in structured wiring since 1988, and we've been advocating for pre-wire to include CAT5E/6 for decades now. Older construction, yes, will be coax but most installers will have a spool of Cat5E on their truck and run it for you. In my case the home developer ran fiber into the home, the ISP installer installed fiber to ethernet converter, and finally ran Cat5E into my house. I had him run it across the garage into my central hallway. There is my WIFI router and then I ran my own cat5E throughout the house.
