Man says Headlight Disassembly and proceeds to irreversible tear the entire thing apart. This is a teardown video, which is very helpful, but theres no way you're putting this back together.

My Stelvio lights are crap. The projection is really short in low beam with a pronounced cut-off at about a single car length in front. Makes night driving quite scary. High beam has very little reach, about as good as the low beam on my 17 year old Jaguar. Years and years ago on my old 156 fitted with HIDs the self levelling did a little up-and-down test every time I started the car up. Should the Stelvio be doing this? Is there something wrong?

It sounds like you have the base headlight without the auto-leveling (AFS) and the 25w D5S xenon bulbs. The upgraded headlight is auto-leveling with brighter 35w D3S bulbs.

@@gftgrill Definitely have the HID as the bulbs are D3s. I read that they degraded over time so upgraded to 50% brighter Phillips and they are better, but still short projection. How do I know if the auto levelling is working?

@@Stratoszero you should see the lights move up and down when you start the car. you can drive up/down a hill at night and if lights stay consistent with the angle of the vehicle then they aren't working or you don't have AFS. You would have a error light on your dash if the AFS were malfunctioning.

What is the current of the low beam led lens? I will be doing these lights in a week and I have a power supply for max 5.1A I wonder if it is enough

I'm not sure how much power it drew. As long as it's 12-14v, it might be good enough

I have the 2018 model and mine doesn't seem to work. They only come on when I turn my lights on. Even when I select auto, nothing comes on in the daytime.

You said they don't work but only come in when you turn them on. That means they do work. In auto mode the head lights will only turn on when it's dark enough, so the headlights should not turn on during the day time in sunlight.

Yes. You can heat up the headlight to soften the glue if you want to rebuild the light.

Get the glue from tape off aswell and you will see its not so big dicference.

I finally ran into this issue well out of warranty. How did you separate the clear lens from the housing? Basically step 1? And i assume reassembly is the reverse. Do you glue the clear lens back on?

@@keithmader2320 baking the headlight in an oven is the most recommended safest way to heat up the glue to separate the lens, especially if you intend to reassemble the light. You will need to apply a new seal. I use clear rtv sealant

Are you using a car 12v battery? And are you connecting negative to ground pin while connecting positive on different pins with a switch?

For what it's worth.....I have a 2019 Rogue SV with Halogens, and there aren't two modes of DRL light level, they are either on, or they are not. The wires for them ARE in the grey connector, but the wire colors are different.

@@pzazzera it might be the module is bad, it's more likely to be the LED that has failed and will require a new light.

@@pzazzera No. You would need to take it to a dealer or someone with Land Rover diagnostic equipment to make that determination. Note that there is a chance that if the controller failed it damaged the LED at the same time so they could both be faulty. It is very common for the DRL LEDs to fail on these cars.

He cut around it, without the intention of ever re-using or resealing it again. Do NOT do this if you are trying to open your headlight to fix it.

High beam I think it's a separate connector, the one that has a blue-ish color. Only has 2 wires connected to it.
