Not looking forward to merging 3sge loom to 4efe loom, thinking is is worth using a full celica engine loom and exterior loom
@shyguy8426
@shyguy8426 3 ай бұрын
@Automotiverecoveryuk honestly if I was to do this again I would probably keep the full 4efe loom and just use either the engine loom from the celica and merge that or I would build a custom engine loom and wire that into the existing 4efe interior loom. The good thing about the toyota looms from those eras is most of it just clips in and only need cables swapping :)

What's the reason for using the celica loom instead of the starlet loom?
@shyguy8426
@shyguy8426 5 ай бұрын
A lot of the celica loom can be plugged into the existing things like brake pedal and fuel pump without having to do much work. If I kept the starlet ecu I'd have to more or less either make my own hybrid engine loom and find get a ecu. This way I can retain everything including the ecu and all I have to do is adapt the lights and indicators to fit :)

I just ask my father he says the way you're doing it is the manual old school method style which takes forever to do but can mess things up if done or wired up incorrectly therefore having to go back and finding where the fault lies in the bunch of mixed coloured cables which is frustrating. Most engine builders work with metal all day, but with all the electronics involved with engines today, including standalone ECUs, sensors, and so forth, wiring is somewhat unavoidable. However, some guys are better at it than others. While engine builders are typically not building a complete harness, some are making the engine harness if they are using a standalone ECU or for a racing application where you need more robust wiring. You want to build a harness that’ll connect to the ECU and go at least to the firewall where there may be a bulkhead connector for the rest of the chassis harness. A bulkhead fitting enables the engine to be pulled without having to disconnect the harness through the firewall and having the right tools for it 👍

Yeah mate he is correct, I will be going step by step and will test at each stage. I have also written down the colours of which is which and grouping them separately and labelling them so if something goes wrong I can easily reference back to whats what. Thing is I’m non of what you have mentioned im just a jack of all and master of non. I will 100% be going a different way about it next project :)
@HuuTonyTran
@HuuTonyTran 8 ай бұрын
Honestly mate just buy a stand alone aftermarket ecu that's been done conversion for you with the harness along with it yet its way more expensive but it saves you the hassle and headache of stripping cutting the wires for each colour f that bro 😅. Why do you think Honda Civic EK & Honda Civic EG5 K-SWAP Engine build are easy because they're popular = more aftermarket support for the ECU & Wiring Loom Harness conversion kits for it bro. Haltec & Hondata K-Pro from JDMYARD Website Au. Where as for Startlet EP91 & 2ZZGE not so much. Personally I rather do a 4AGE 20v Blacktop Engine Swap for the Starlet much simpler to swap into. There's a guy in Australia Sydney 🇦🇺 who did the Toyota AE111 4AGE 20v Blacktop Engine Swap for the Starlet which he posted up on the StarletUK forum page.

Haha as my friend keeps telling me, I’m a masochist. Yeah I came into this project with the fact that k swaps are probably somewhat less hassle but went for the 2zz anyway as I wanted to do something less common. I do have plans for a k engine swap series in the future (have someone that will collaborate) but I want to put it in a another chassis :). I fully get why you are saying but I’m here now 😂. Honestly tho I’m somewhat enjoying the process and learning a lot about wiring in the meanwhile so it’s not all waste just long 😅.

Don't mind a wee rice rocket, I miss the £175 1 owner from new Honda Jizz got at the auctions, spent nothing on it, gave it death for 3 years then sold it for £900 lol, but wee things like this are about as close as you can get to a classic mini and as great fun without as much cost, ish, jap parts not as cheap as they used to be, been there, done that lol ;) Edit: Assume this is an engine from an older celica? I thought you may have been looking to put in a 1ZZ I think it is (140hp) or whatever the yamaha 200hp eqivilant was that you go tin some models, I had one for a wee while..and while it was a bit camp looking like a TT, it was a very fun car to drive with overall good build quality, comparable to a TT as well I suppose, leather/plastic/sound deadning ratio wise lol. :)

What a bastard eh, used to seeing that on mates 1.8T projects with maxspeeding rods... rods/pistons and eventually pushing 480hp with a max speeding rods turbo but still ended in a hole in the block LOl, I think the K04 on the 225 with a stage 1 map is probably enough for that chassis without expensive polybush/fast road etc mods, I'm a MK4 1.9 PD130 lover but thought I would try 1.8T, best way I thought was a TT as 4mo golf etc like hens teeth unless you wan't to go MK5 platform... no thanks lol.
@shyguy8426
@shyguy8426 8 ай бұрын
It depends on what power you are getting out of it, but i reckon it can handle a lot more in terms of handling wise, I had been smashing her round corners and she just holds so well. I dont think you'd need to polybush everything you mentioned unless the rubbers are on their way out the ones on the TT from audi are very decent bushes it's not like it's off a generic hatchback like my starlet for example. Although I'm not a huge diesel person I tend to favour petrol the PD130 engine is an absolute Monster especially in a Skoda :). Never looked into the golf marker but I understand the lack of mods for certain platforms is a pain. TT was a good choice :).

Shame it didn't last on the engine side bud, I kinda bought mines and bar servicing it within a week it had a stage 1 map on it Lol, then I discovered all the PCV stuff being minced etc, so as per my post on your other video it's now in bits while I'm half way through changing the timing belt, it's supposed to have had a new clutch but I think i either needs a rebleed or the pedal wel cracking or the cylinder on its way out, microswitches in door locks don't work so the windows don't drop etc, it looks like the suspension is original bar a couple of new springs, still with 11 past owners it seems quite genuine without too many bodge mods in the past. We shall see once I get it back on the road and kick it's hole in. :D

It happens mate, I have never had much luck with sports cars (Something always ends up happening to them). I had a prelude 2.2 5th gen had it parked down the road where it never floods but that week I had it, it rained and the car got flooded, so ended up having to get rid. Then I bought an RX8 which was solid engine and body wise, it was probably one of the highest milage ones in the country I sold it at 177k miles because someone crashed into the wing. And now the TT was my last sports car victim. Hopefully the next one will be more lucky lol. Seems like you picked up a nice example of a TT and you are doing all the important bits so I think she should enjoy the abuse on the engine side. Unfortunately these TT's suffer the electric side of things so you may be chasing these electrical problem for a while as they pop up :).

Hey bud they are awesome cars. The problem is you never know who has been maintaining them and for some reason especially here in the uk a lot of people started treating these tt’s like normal cars. If you have one to save you the hassle just drop the sump have a quick look around and clean up while your there and then put some nice new oil back in there and you’ll have good piece of mind :). How many miles does your TT have? :)

Yep it’s an important job the pick up pipe being changed as people like to put way to much silicone gasket on the sump causing the pick up pipe to get blocked which completely destroys the entire engine. 😢

Yeah it’s a big shame, wish I had known. in the first episode when I picked up the car the rocker cover had been caulked on unfortunately. A lesson learned for the next TT I’ll make sure to give it a full check over. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. :)

@autospavaletingdetailing6512 I was going to do that but where I had left the car someone had scraped the whole rear quarter quite badly and also my friend wanted his spot back in the workshop so I didn’t have enough time.
