In fairness to Monty, the original plan for Market Garden probably would have worked. The plan that took place had balooned in size and scope from the original and was hopelessly ambitious, can't really blame Monty for that

This video is so pointless. The war was already decisively lost for Germany at the beginning of 1942.... everything happening after the failure of Barbarossa was just delaying the inevitable.

by the time the Germans got close to the Meuse River, all bridges were prepared for demolition. I have never seen any competent military analyst that thought it had any chance of success. Germany was simply too weak by that time. and too short of fuel. Even if they had captured every single fuel dump that they targeted they still would not have been able to go any further.

After the fall of France, North Africa was the only place where the British army could get to grips with Axis forces. The RAF was ramping up it's bombing campaign, the RN was escorting convoys, and imposing a blockade, but without the desert theatre the army would just have been kicking its heels. Strategically it was a vital area too.

Another factor was that the Japanese did not rotate their pilots. Veteran pilots were constantly sent out until they were eventually killed. By the time of the Great Mariannes Turkey Shoot, most Japanese pilots were rookies. US pilots were rotated so veterans could train recruits, and new pilots were given a chance to gain experience.

6:50 thats just wrong, almost any anti-tank weapon can penetrate a Bradley, (maybe those from 1939 would have a little trouble) and most RPGs can go throught through abrams rear and sides, depending on upgrade packages and which specific weapon is used. I can understand you buying into the propaganda about abrams armor being impenetrable all around, even though only the front and turret sides even have composite armor, but how could you ever think that a bradley's armor would survive an RPG? Blatantly false info like this makes me question this channel a lot. They even made a movie about it called pentagon wars, so its not like this is some obscure secret fact, it's common knowledge that they have aluminium armor...

I see how important the need for young men is to fight these wars. I am ashamed to admit when I got out of highschool I wanted nothing more than to go fight in the middle east. Now in my mid 30s my first question would be "How much am I getting paid for this? How dangerous is this job? What is the end goal of this war?" You really do need young men to go fight like this on the front lines. As you get older it is impossible to convince you it's a good idea.

I will say though, the F4F performs better than one would think. Initially the Zero slightly out-traded F4Fs, though the earliest records on casualty cause of the F4F is tricky to discern. In the Battle of the Coral Sea the Wildcats shot down 14 zeros for 10 lost. In the Battle of Midway, and other battles during this time period resulted in about a 1.4:1. Groups conducting the thatch weave though during Midway scored a 3:1 kill ratio on zeros even when greatly outnumbered. Even before the hellcat was introduced, wildcats were shooting down far more zeros per plane lost. Tactics and poor pilot replacement by the Japanese allowed the wildcat to be more combat effective than the zero was, contrary to the usual narrative.

My contention, as a Marine, do not believe the 101st needed rescue, it needed help. Like an air strike, air support, artillery support, something. The media and Patton turned it to a rescue. When Eisenhower asked for a plan, Patton boldly stated he could get there and rescue them in 3 days. He was over 100 miles away. You can cover 20 miles a day easily but this was in bitter cold conditions. So covering 100 miles in 3 days is daunting. It was easy for Patton to make that bold claim, he rode on a keep. He didn’t walk the entire journey. It was easy to pierce the Germans since they had Bastogne surrounded and not concentrated in one area. Once Patton’s unit pierced through, the German’s had to retreat. They had run out of food and ammunition. It wasn’t as glorious as it described. If the Germans had been better equipped, it would have taken longer and more casualties on Patton’s unit. But Old Blood and Guts probably wouldn’t have cared. He cared more about winning at all costs. He was reckless as a leader which is why he was shown the door.

Pilot attrition for the Japanese was compounded by the fact that they made little effort to find downed airmen. The USA sent subs and floatplanes to search for pilots after a battle whereas the Japanese just let them die or be captured but most would choose suicide over that. It cost a lot of money and takes a significant amount of time to train new pilots so every downed pilot saved us one that doesn’t have to be replaced. Early in the war this was crucial to keeping the carrier wings manned.

mostly because they were outnumbered. if a tiger ran into a Sherman. the tiger was screwed. because that Sherman had 50 of his buddies with him. then there was air power. tigers had front and side armor. but it could be hit from above, lots of anti tank guns.

The battle of the bulge quickened the end of the war by at least 6 months. The Germans threw a army of inexperience troops at us with the inability to properly supply them. We decimated them with non stop artillery and when the skies cleared bombed the sh*t out of them. It was so bad that when they did beat us in a major Armour battle, taking 0 losses they ran out of fuel and deserted their tanks . Think Marianas turkey shoot in the pacific as a good comparison

This video explains virtually nothing that isn't obvious or has already been explained by main stream media outlets, and is so pro British Intelligence it's teetering on MI6 propaganda. Let's just call it what it really is, an apologists view of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. We know the end game has always been a commitment of the Western Alliance to abide by British support of US foreign policy to maintain global dominance for this Alliance. It's the wetdream of neoconservatives and neoliberals but more poignantly the oligarchs, industrialists and the financial sector that underpins these imperialist warmongers, who are willing to kill as many brown people, Russians and Asians as it takes to satisfy their dreams. As George Monbiot has said, we're a community of altruists governed by psychopaths!
