It’s different playing with or without a pic. It seems to be harder with a pic. Just that slight extension of your fingers makes a huge difference at least for me.

Awe this is torture to watch! Lived in Casper for a bit! Creeks and streams were my fav above the larger Platte, Green, Miracle Mile...legends in their own right! But the smaller waters always felt more intimate to me.😊

Found this video accidentally. I've played guitar on and off for over 40 years and this video in 20 minutes cuts to core of rhythm. If you need to watch this video 50 times and incrementally increase the complexity of the rhythm do it. At the end of the time spent you will be a much better guitar player for it. No matter what rhythm you reach by the end of all of it!! Thanks so much for the clearest video I have EVER seen!! Emphasizing the importance of feeling it can not be overstated.

Great tutorial. Yes, Colin has a video of him doing an acoustic version in double drop D, but the fingering's a bit more complex, at least to me. This version is just right. For the verse chords after the D/C# I like to add a 5-4-0 bass run on the E string before retuning to the beginning E of the verse. Cheers!

Have to disagree on the first thesis. We used to play ska a lot and the pure upbeat nature of the music makes you to move your head upwards to a beat lol (offbeat, but still, letterally keeping the groove like that made it easier to keep). Haha, but yeah, I know its just an accent and in reality you still tap your leg and strum downwards on a beat:)))

The Hand Strumming you explain is a type of SITAR Indian Classical Music hand movement which is used playing the Indian style Sitar Sreng Instrument which has around depending which one you have has up to 29 Strings where as you play ONLY ONE String and if you are good a second with Bass Notes yet the Hand movement is all Fingers moving in and Out. You do not move the hand much at all only the Fingers as you have described it! I started playing Guitar in the 1980th but found a liking to the Sitar sound, and I played and studied it for over ten years here in New Zealand, but mainly in Europe. LOVED It but have not gone back to it for many years now! Anyway, misted music in general I just got back to it with now 73 years of age as I needed to have more hand movement due to Joint problems and so I started Guitar again and your way is what suits me to the T. Thanks for that!!!
