These two tutorials on strumming patterns were so helpful. I’m interested in finger style and these have been amazing. Thank you so much.

I enjoy strumming with my thumb for the mellow "fleshy sound" it creates. After watching this video, I'm considering adding finger strumming for alternate tones. Thank you.

Glad to see someone go over this.. I was on a motorcycle and got hit head on by a pick up truck.. long story short. my right hand will not pivot over enough to strum properly with a pick.. even with a 0.38 or 0.46 pick.. so, I've learned to strum with my fingers..

Hey Matt, I followed your strum since the early days of your channel as I’m a finger strummer more than a pick strummer also. I personally feel I have a lot more “feel” when finger strumming, but off camera I work on pick strumming but it still feels mechanical and clunky to me. I’ve followed your early advice and grown out my pointer finger nail (despite being a chronic nail biter) and this was a mini game changer for me. I regularly manicure it back down to the correct length as if I let it get too long I risk breaking or cracking it when playing. Congrats also on the Ep1 strum video, that is going off (viral) so big 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 to you. PS; I’ve been working on Sam Cookes song lately (Bring it on home to me), completely coincidental and oblivious to the fact you recently posted it. I’ll be putting my spin on it shortly😎 playing it in G.

Hey thanks a lot mate, I know you have been following since early days and I really appreciate it. The video has gotten some great traction and I’m super stoked. Finger strumming has been a game changer for me too. I highly recommend playing a nylon string at least some of the time for this reason. It just works. But the best thing is that strumming tutorial seems to be really helping people, which I am really pleased with. I love the thought that it’s making such a difference to so many people. Thanks for your support bro.

This was very very helpful! Thank you. I find strumming and rhythm to be harder than I believe people think it is…

Thank you so much for these strumming tutorials! I tried to make a purchase on your website, but only PayPal payments were accepted. I will not use PayPal but would gladly pay with a debit or credit card. Am I missing something in the payment process?

Your the first one I've ever seen play like this. Where did you learn it? I saw your first one so I'm glad I subscribed for the second.

I'm really not sure where I picked this up, but I am definitely not unique in using this style, it's very useful for rhythmic playing, and I probably started playing more this way when I began to play a lot of reggae music, and a lot of classical guitar (not classical music, so much, but just playing songs on a nylon string guitar).

And you only drop your pick, not your fingers. I've been wanting to switch over to the finger style and the claw style is fantastic. Im 67 so I better get strumming, lol. Thanks for everything my friend. Your name is? Peace 🕊️

I think strumming with fingers is so much better and enable you to toggle back and forth between strumming and picking like he mentioned.

Yeah and the great thing is if you grow your nail long, you’ll never lose your pick! 😁

Would you consider doing a third video where you can take us through step by step how to use your technique to play a song? I am still trying to wrap my mind around how to play like this and I don’t think I am the only one when I say playing with a pick is not enjoyable and I feel has kept me from progression
