@@DM_Bluddworth great idea! The magic system itself, as in the mechanics, work the same way. But the cleric doesn't exist anymore, and he's replaced by two different holy classes that have two different sets of miracles, and the arcane magic has some of the same techniques, but also some new ones.

There's also a bunch of pagan magic in the setting section, which the PCs can definitely encounter but would typically not know how to make, though there's also an NPC class for pagan magic users.

I have no desire to buy anything WotC makes since 2018. If I want to play D&D, I just pull out the AD&D books. There are way better modern games out there these days. You don't need WotC.

Great video. I have the original Adventurer's Armory, and the damages seemed off in that book as well. I use other books--notably the Gygax World Building series--for weapon damages. Or I just change the damage for players (always higher). Otherwise, the Adventurers' Armory is a great book to help players unfamiliar with armor and weaponry. I think with the Gygax books, those also serve a similar purpose, and I use those (as a CK) because there are a lot of other information and tables as well.

Great discussion. A commenter in your live chat had it right and I’m paraphrasing… just ignore WOTC, move on and stop giving them your money. Late era 5E, 6E whatever and future editions are not marketed to the previous or older, current generation of gamers. Digital VTT, playing in a group around a table and staring at your iPad, or Mobile phone, micropayments for the least thing? That’s marketing to kids of today. I live in Asia and those sort of games RULE sales. And they pay for it - we have kids out here who’ve put their parents in debt to the tune of tens of thousands with these micropayments. We are talking that level of addiction. I keep hearing comparisons to Monopoly Go. Yeah, that’s relevant but so is Roblox, League of Legends, Valorant, Fortnite and an endless assortment of mobile and desktop RPGs with a digital ecosystem wrapped around them. This stuff works with this and the upcoming generations. D&D? Pfft who’s got time to READ those rules. (Actual quote to me) So they are just going to keep digitising as much of D&D for sale over mobile as they can and that is not going to stop. For the rest of us? Well, I could be wrong but having played since the 1980s, we have never been so spoiled for choice when it comes to play around a table, roll actual dice, and read real rulebooks. Take your pick and play on. D&D tabletop will always live on wherever we gather! TO ARMS! 😂🎉

Thanks. Nice video!! Yeah -- I question those damages -- and some of those are so weak -- why even use some of these weapons if they do 1d3 for example? It'l like 80% of the weapons aren't worth even getting. Love that every weapon is illustrated though. Yeah -- this book is worth it for the pictures and the description text -- but yeah not sure I would bother with trying to differentiate what damage different maces do for example. If you do then like you said why not just use the mace(s) that do the most damage?

They absolutely cannot replace him with a white woman. According to Matt Walsh’s victim pyramid, it has to be a black trans woman. Anything less will be a total assault to DEI sensibilities. All the other white people at the top should be demoted too. They’re just a bunch of DEI fakers. If they really believed it, they would step aside and give up their positions to someone with absolutely no qualifications whatsoever, that is except for a darker skin tone and a severe case of genderphoria.

5:54 I’d give the players choice as to what’s most expendable. As a player, I’d want my gold in the last slot to lose, because that’s XP 9:13 On direct damage, it bypasses any HP, and does not change HP. Cairn (based on Knave 1e) calls HP “hit protection” to represent damage as stamina keeping you from getting wounded. Think Game of Thrones fight scenes. You have enough fight in you to keep them from killing (wounding) you. 12:11 I like the re-roll HP. Always improving, but eventually tending to the average with all the dice. 14:52 I Love the idea of reverse checks! It opens the players up to role play describing how they make the goblin miss. GM could still role damage and others. 16:56 reverse checks still possible thanks to using 11 as the target base: D20 + PC stat to meet or beat 11 + GM stat for success. 21:56 Maybe the goblins come. See delving rules. He does call for a hazard dice roll for each dungeon turn. SOMETHING will happen.
