Thanks Unscripted & Unchained!! Wasn't aware of this game. I'm also a big fan of Conan -- probably not as much of a fan as you are -- but Conan is fantastic. Fond memories of playing the Conan RPG from TSR (circa 1984). Good to see someone else taking over the Conan TTRPG mantle. May have to back this!!

Like the look of this. Nice and simple to fit the pulpy feel and attribute driven which appeals to my OSR sensibilities. They really should rename skills to just Talents though, based on this quick start. Will be keeping an eye on it.

The Flex die is extra complexity that doesn’t add anything, since the PCs can spend Stamina to do the same feats

Why on earth did they not use savage worlds as a rules system? Especially since monolith just did a Solomon Kane savage worlds rpg Kickstarter !

Page 6 makes me worry that the game proper will have safety tools.

Don't know what proper safety tools are. We added this sidebar just to let folks know what content they may encounter. There's nothing else mentioned about that in the whole book. This is a common staple in RPGs now, and we feel it's best to warn folks than to not.

@matthewsullivan7443 I actually covered your safety tools side bar and over all I did not see too much of an issue with them. I would love to have you on my channel for an interview to talk about the game, as it approaches its Kickstarter and then again during or after the Kickstarter.

@@DM_Bluddworth hey! Thanks. I'm very aware that some folks are exhausted by these warnings as they feel they are virtue signaling. That really isn't the intent here. We just think these notes can be helpful, and surely don't intend to hurt anyone. "Woke" is not a word I use in my discourse as I find it dismissive and lacking in nuance. I prefer we contextualize these older works and let folks make their own decisions. And sure, I would likely be game discussing the game with you. I appreciate your measured approach in going over this document.

I'm more of a fan of the 2D20 system for Conan. This one doesn't appeal to me. Good luck to Monolith, but I'll have to pass on this one.

The problem is, Conan 2D20 is out of print & licensing so you can’t even create 3rd party content for it

2d20 is trash, but I agree that this system is unappealing.

@@sunsin1592 you could not have played Conan 2D20 and come away with thinking it is trash. It is one of the best systems on the market for high action, cinematic game play & experience.

Downloaded and skimmed these. Pretty underwhelming in all aspects. Mongoose remains the gold standard for Conan RPGs. Before the announcement by Monolith I was hoping Goodman Games would get the license and we'd have Conan for DCC. But alas, we just get this drek, complete with trigger warnings no less.

The irony of people who are so fragile they get offended by trigger warnings will never fail to amuse me. What's wrong with a few sentences reminding people to be respectful and ensure everyone can have fun?

@@rydiafan1 because they often go beyond that mere statement. I’m assuming you did not watch my video, as the author of the safety tool blurb actually said “you had a more balanced view of the safety tools” (paraphrased) when speaking of my take.
