Watching any video of westerners buying records in Japan always makes me want to go back too. I've been 4 times so far. Japan has to be "Record collector heaven". I've picked up so much stuff I've been after there, it's amazing. Glad to see you mention "Time Passages" by Al Stewart... my personal best album ever made by anyone on the planet :)

Oh man, crate-digging in Tokyo, what a trip... I've spent 3 weeks there last year, i've mainly bought records and barely seen anything of the city ahah. PS: thank you for the heads up on the Blue Nile record, i've totally missed they've reissued it this year!

some great finds, that Spanish Iggy with gatefold sleeve is cool, never seen that one. We went to Tokyo for the first time late 2023, we were just blown away by the record shopping. Went to over a dozen Disk Unions alone, they are the best for sure. Loved going to Tower again, very nostalgic for us, our hotel was a 4 minute walk away. Other favorite stores were Recofan, Coconuts Disk, Daruma Ya, Flask Disc Ranch, few others. We came home with 4 suitcases full haha! In case you didn't know, you can check the condition of all the records at the counter, just say "check condition" and they open everything for you and very gently hand you each lp one at a time to inspect. They are so respectful and friendly, and even when we had 25-30 records to go through, they were always nothing but helpful and patient. Thinking of going back in 2025!

Hey Fitz. Some fantastic finds, and encouraging prices. I’m really jonesing for a trip to Japan and those amazing record stores. I have a lot of patience for crate digging so it’s right up my street. Thanks for taking me along. Cheers.

Thanks for giving it a watch, Jack. I do think you would enjoy record shopping here in Japan.

I’m envious Fitz. My week in Tokyo in 2012 is something I think about a lot. It truly is a record-buyers paradise. I want to go back so bad but I don’t think I could handle the plane trip from eastern Canada again. That Blue Nile record is superb. Nice video.

@@thissonicobsession thanks guys (I never really know which of you is commenting 😀). It’s been so much fun walking the city in addition to record shopping. Tokyo never ceases to amaze me in terms of food, architecture/design, and so much more.

Thanks for sharing the albums and your experience. I would go crazy if I found such great jazz for $5 to $10. The MJQ “Concorde” album is a great one as is “Bags Opus”. I am jealous that you found “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” and “Modern Art” in such good condition . Great finds! Enjoy listening.

@@robertburns8306 Thanks for the comments. Now I’m more excited to listen to these records as these were pretty much blind buys. Cheers.

Hats for around $50.00 sounds like a bargain in the UK it's £80.00 plus I believe. Made redundant this year so for first time in my life I've got some cash, considering making the trip although I would go solo in true Bill Murray fashion😅

@@Harrispilton22 Not a lot of room on the Tokyo streets for golf carts but a great place to eat, drink and buy records.
