Picked up 5 in the last 2 days. 1 fresh one. Shed season is upon us! Awesome videos man!

Awesome man, I’m hoping antlers hold tight a little longer I still have a buck tag at home to fill. But I’ve been seeing tons of shed bucks on camera and also picked up a big fresh one on Dec 12th, the earliest I’ve ever found a fresh shed.

I’ve never really went out to shed hunt, but this year would love to. Where should I look? Is there a typical spot where they would normally shed?
@tonyvanasten3 күн бұрын
I would look close to the best winter food sources. I find a lot in night bedding areas close to food where there’s a wind break and grass bedding. Thermal cover like cedars, scrub oaks, or CRP. I focus on south and south east facing ridges where they get the most sun, especially when they need it most in the morning. I try and pay attention to the wind direction when most bucks are shedding and search the corresponding bedding areas for those specific bucks, assuming those bedding areas are known by you. Those are a few tips to get you started.. good luck!

Nice video. At the 5:17 to 5:27 mark, there wasn't an antler that you walked by, was there?

It does actually look like it could have been an antler. I know exactly where that was, when I go in there this spring I’ll check and see what that was.

Haha I get a little excited sometimes, definitely wasn’t a 200 incher but probably would have pushed 190 that year. That buck ended up scoring 178 and some change the year I killed him.

Zip tie!! Great idea! Was looking for fake antennas to put on my non cell cameras. I've been pulling the antennas off my kids broken remote control toys for years and installing them on old broken cameras that I put up around my property to deter trespassers. Those I install where the trespassers can see them. Feather, great idea! Height great idea! Thanks

Literally says that in the title of the video. Are you suggesting we shouldn’t allow children to be outdoors in nature? Lock up all the kids so they are totally unaware of how nature works. I took this video close to where I live.

This is all new to me, thinking about doing some trapping this year, what does rubbed out mean? I'm assuming all the fur is rubbed off, but does that happen from spinning around in the trap?
@tonyvanasten2 ай бұрын
Basically as the year progresses coyotes and other fur bearing animals will damage their guard hairs from going under fences, through brush, crawling in dens ect. Coyotes typically will have that in the middle of their back and sometimes on their hind legs from laying in the snow and pulling hair out when their hair freezes to it.

tf? it always happens in nature. so if you interfere, the mink goes home with no food, and when its crippled of starvation, you won't feel anything just because it isnt as cute as the rabbit? i feel bad for the rabbit, but you cant always save animals
@ralphmoore61862 ай бұрын
@@imjustachiIIguyI'm sure the rabbit needs to feed its family 2 works both ways how did cuteness get in here this has nothing to do with cuteness its all about survival

@imjustachiIIguy2 ай бұрын
@@ralphmoore6186 you all are supporting the rabbit because its cute and its cries are pitiful but if a cat shredded a mink apart you wouldnt cry because its not cute. also, rabbits asre herbivores. you cant kill something and take it back to your family. the babies get their own food.

Ya you could tell she went into panic mode. Tried to cross a little creek, probably after seeing a coyote in the timber and when she started slipping they pushed her down the creek where the it dumped into the Mississippi River. A lot less snow out there and she was screwed then.
