It's straight up racism. It happened to me too. The police were actually encouraging me not to report the person that abused me then went behind my back and talked bad about me to the abuser. They will hold you in jail for a couple of months or more to make money off of you if you can't afford your bond. The Poverty Law Center started a lawsuit against them and the prison guards because what happened to me when I was in prison. Hurricane Katrina happened and I never knew if they won the lawsuit.
