Hey ACLU, NO books are banned! Age appropriate.

Okay - let’s prohibit kids from reading the bible then(a book that contains numerous depictions of grape, incest, and murder)…hardly age appropriate, wouldn’t you say?

Or here’s a better question: Why hasn’t the Bible been banned in any school libraries in the state of Florida? It’s more graphic than many of the books on the list 🤔

Books that contain explicit sex acts do not belong in grade schools. I don’t care what book you sit there and read with the attitude that you have been horribly wronged because some books are banned from schools. The real issue parents have is the access to children of books in their school libraries that contain what mainstream parents consider to be inappropriate and unnecessary, perverse. So sweetie, sit there and read aloud any book you like. It doesn’t change the facts of the real issue at hand.

Stop using the word “banned.” These books are NOT being banned. They are readily available to anyone who wishes to buy them at any book store or Amazon. These books are being targeted for their horrendously inappropriate content for school libraries. Some of these books are so graphic, they could be featured in Penthouse or Hustler. If you, as a parent, want your kid to read them - go buy them. They have no place in a school library.

They are still available at city/county libraries not school libraries in middle or elementary schools. So not banned, not accessible to young children that they are not appropriate for. If parents want their children to read them they can still get them from a public library.

There is no " ban " when all of those same books are available at a public library - a public library allows citizens to choose what they read or not. A public school hass a responsibility to teach standards that must apply to all students, not just to the students that select members of faculty choose to teach to - there can be no " private library " a teacher has in their public classroom. All curriculum in a public school has to be approved by the duly elected school board members. In the classroom, the student doesn't have choice over what the teacher presents. That responsibility goes to the elected school board. Don't like the board's choices? Vote in a different board. Don't like the one-way choices offered / mandated at a public school or by a certain teacher? Vote for schoool ochice and go to school somewhere else, or from home. That's called " choice " and everyone has that right. You also have the right to go to the public library and read what you want - or go to Audible / Amazon, etc., and buy what you want ,,, there simply is no " banning ", because what you want to read is available to you - you simply have to go get it, if you have the desire to read it ,,,, period.

There's only so much space on a bookshelf and very human librarians make arbitrary decisions of what to put there. Also, a book isn't "great" just because of a dramatic reading in a video, or a finite voting council gave the book an award, or the author a ribbon. This is not to say many people wouldn't enjoy Morrison's writing if they just gave it a chance. But their enjoyment would be a personal opinion and not a qualification for being important to society or school bookshelf worthy.

The reason we have the word "racist" is because it was invented as communist propaganda. It has no real definition, which is why propagandists love using it in everything. I wouldn't say "I'm not racist" because that would be accepting a false premise.
