A machine dating from way back to the mid-Fifties. Motorists might take a longer look knowing that. These were used by the Alaska Railroad to switch freight cars around the Port of Anchorage a half century ago, having the notable addition of a box atop the far end (for heat I imagine). Unbelievable any are still around

This is a pure 567D3 prime mover this unit was rebuilt only with new traction motors,and the power was brought down from 2250hp to 2000hp and classified as a gp30m by csx

I am sure glad that I wasn’t around to witness the fireworks concerning this incident. That got expensive in a big hurry. I’m also glad that I wasn’t within a hundred miles of the place. If I had been someone would’ve found a way to blame me for it.

Trains are not understood and given the respect they deserve. But some of that has to do with who is actually running today's rail systems and railroads throughout the country. Certainly, not the best and brightest in Executive Management.
