Well, I can't believe you have not encountered this the 4 Oclock in your line of work. What the folks below have not mentioned is the seeds look exactly like little hand grenades, so you can't say the plant has not tried to warn you about its spreading nature. It spread from my neighbor and took over part of my front yard in Woodland, CA. It was not to hard to eradicate, but it took time. Also want to tell about a Jacaranda in Woodland that survived 15F in 1990 and continues to thrive despite neglect. I could show it to you as it has public access. I was just at your place outside Winters picking up a Mexicola from Jorge. I ran into this video as I wanted to look at your vid where you planted the pot too after slicing the sides. My wife is questioning me, lol.

Four O-clocks, have them all over my yard, drought tolerant, black seeds all over like crazy every year( that's how I started mine), Mixed colors on the same plants it seems, from white to deep purple along with mixed multicolored as well. Planted them along with Hollyhocks about 6 years ago and both have spread all over without watering... When they do get water it's even crazier growth.

Mirabilis jalapa. in french litteraly 'night beauty', since the flowers are closed during daytime. the yellow is the wild type, resurging in the pink and red selections after one or two generations of seedlings. and they dont need water :D

Artifical turf pretty much sucks. It has some perforations in it to allow for drainage but it never has enough. It will deprive that tree of water and make it very difficult to fertilize. It also gets extremely hot, so hot it will burn a dogs feet. But the worst thing about it is the smell that it retains and constantly releases from dogs relieving themselves on it. It is absolutely awful and nearly impossible to clean and get the smell out

Yes, it's four o clocks and it will take over if you aren't careful. They make tons of black, barrel shaped seeds and spread below ground like crazy. Hummingbird moths love them at night.

Gary, that was crazy planting those king palm. Love your KZbin. I do have 3 years old 2 Jacaranda trees in Paso Robles Ca. zone 8b. elevation 2000. It survives three days of snow in Feb 2023. In San Diego the ravaneas always seem like the crown is burned and struggling for whatever reason but they seem to still live but don't look that great. Every once in a while you will see one that looks better than others. There is a couple very tall ones at some old estates and both of them the crown looks like hell. I just got to the end of the video and see you explained the reason why which makes sense.

. Hey Gary, I've been meaning to ask you this question, but now I have a bridge with this video. I usually associate the jacaranda tree with southern California, which leads me to ask: What is the variety of palm that is in front of The Brady Bunch house? Apparently when HGTV bought the house a few years ago and remodeled it to look like the opening credits of the TV show, the house as it stood didn't have the palm, but a neighbor nearby had one so they bought it from them. Curious to know what kind it is. The tree is right next to the front door at the entrance to the house.
